The operating manual I checked said not to mix oil and gasoline. I would suggest you check your manual. It also said not to use gasoline with alcohol.

SOURCE: What is the gas and oil mixture ratio?

Hi, McCulloch chain saws have different mixtures depending on whether you use their brand or generic and is also dependent on the model. The three mixes are 32:1, 40:1 or 50:1. If you are unsure, use the 40:1 and watch the smoke, too much smoke use less mix, but don't run with too little. If you see any coming from the exhaust it is too much and can't burn it all. Good Luck, hope this Fixsya!

SOURCE: gas to oil ratio for a McCulloch power mac 310

When in doubt 40:1 is the always safe mix for any 2 stroke, synthetic oils 50+:1 use there recommendations. Always use the same(premium quality) 2 stroke oil to avoid fuel issues.

SOURCE: Gas, Oil Mix ratio for McCulloch Eager ******

Fuel/Oil Mixture

  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Most gas in the US of A contains ethanol; not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 6 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

Have toro 418 snow thrower prime it and starts but immediately stalls can only keep running if I keep pushing the primer button what's wrong

The fuel pickup tube in the carburetor is probably clogged. I don't know how handy you are, but you have to remove the carb, disassemble it and blow out all the orfices with compressed air and possibly run thin wires into the tubes and holes. Good Luck! the last time I had to do this was in the middle of a snowstorm!

My 418 ZE Toro snowblower won't start either manually or electrically. I need to empty the gas. How do I do that?

Easiest way is to pull the fuel line from the carburetor.
If you have not started it since last year and had the gas sitting in there. You need to clean the carburetor too.

Toro Power Clear 418 ZE Snow Blower won't stay started

The main jet of your carb is clogged and you need to open carb and clear the obstruction - spray carb cleaner on the bolt that holds the gas container to bottom of carb - also spray all the innards along with any tube that protrudes into the gas can.

Then using air compressor blow the sucker out and reassemble. That should do it.
