Is my Denon PMA 250SE able to be hooked up to a Lenco L-85 turntable without a separate preamp?

I have a Denon PMA250SE amp that I bought in 1999 without phonocard retrieved from my loft and am looking at buying a Lenco L-85 turntable it lists that it has usb. Is this just a case of plugging the rca cable into my amp and it will then play without me buying a separate preamp? Many thanks

Hi Steve no it has a usb facility but thats not the way it connects to my amp thats via rca, i think this will be how i connect it as the turntable i’m looking at has a preamp i guess i wont need a wire for the gnd. Its taken me long enough to figure it out. No i may not use the usb facility on it, the audio technica is out of my price range unfortunately at the mo this was just a cheap starter for me to play my records and then in the future invest in something better. But many thanks for your help.

Take the time and look on back of unit.On the left will be inputs. You will find the answer to your question there.

Testimonial: "Hi Steve Many thanks for your first bit of guidance but I have looked at the connections and dont understand how a grounding cable with a metal end from the turntable can fit into the connection on my amp. It twists to open to attach wires but all thats underneath is a screw and a hole not a proper connection. I have taken photos to explain what I mean visually but cant see how I can attach them to this post."

The ground wire is an earth ground. , if you wish to attach it amp it will attach to amp back panel with a screw, I don't bother with them. The RCA cables are bonded to amp case. The problem is that is an USB connector, not RCA. You can buy a cable from Amazon or other on line stores .Look for USB to RCA Cable. You can also use cable and connect to tape in on amp. The turntable has a built in pre amp. If you are going to listen to records why don’t you look another turntable? I use an Audio Techica turntable with high quality stylus and cartridge. Once the music is converted to digital the sound is never the same as analog. The digital lacks the warmth and audio harmonics that are analog.

SOURCE: Denon pma 250SE phono problem

Denon PMA 250SE does not have a RIAA phono preamp.

for some info about these preamp and details here;

Phonopreamps.com Home Page

Note: Choose a better quality regulated power supply,

for these preamps.

Although an updated turntable with USB can be used

without the need of such RIAA phono preamp.

Why can't I get my turntable to sound right on my

Turn table? You mean like records? lol
The output of record players is different voltage than like cd players, etc...
Does your stereo have input for turntable or are you hooking it up to an extra rca input? I had mine hooked up wrong before and it did same thing.

I have a Denon PMA 500V amplifier. all of the output fuses were blown so I replaced them but the unit still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

hi.
Did you checked balanced impedance?load speaker impedance vs PA output?or PA might over driven, causing a trouble on the pre-amp to power amp circuits and components damage,
need to recheck related components on the pre-driver up to main output section,

Note: That, blowing of fuses with the same rating is an indication of trouble/shorted in a circuits that driven on it,

Thanks and good luck

Hi , I have a denon pma-2000r amp in it stuck in stand by mode, i don't have original remote control, is it possible to turn it on without remote control or reset to factory settings? Many thanks!

That model shouldnt be stuck in stand-by
Are all the speakers connected?
If it wont properly turn on then there is a fault being detected. Could be disconnected speakers / bad speaker or a power supply issue

Denon Amp (PMA-700AE) ignores the signal from CD Player DCD-700

If you can follow the circuit from the input of the cd play socket inside the amp itself you might come accross a Memory Retention Capacitor that supplies an IC. If you do. I can't for certain say one will be there, I would replace it, it might be the cause of the lost memory of your device.
If you don't know what a M R C looks like, they are like electrolytic types, but haven the appearance of being squashed. The value will be low only 0.22uf etc and the volts very low say 5.5. The PC board marking will be different to a normal capictor.

DENON Input selector jumps randomly

I have a PMA-535R. Same problem but slightly different dialknob. I fixed it by spraying a contactspray and WD-40 into the knob itself. This does mean you have to disassemble the front of the amp and take out print of the dialknob. The knob has a plastic dustcovere that you will have to lift. Good luck
