Question about LG Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi, I've got a plasma LG 50PB5600 - ZA If I turn the tv on after being out of power for long time, it may come up with a picture and stays for ages. Once I try to change chanel or something the screen goes black but the sound is there. Then every time I turn off/on it will be no picture unless I go to radio and turn it off then on so it will come with a picture showing the radio channel and the tv is fully responsive to be controlled, the menu comes up etc. Once I swap to tv chanel the screen goes black again only sound but no picture, no menu comes on screen but still responsive to volume etc. Thanks for your support!

Plasma TV's are no longer available. Even if you decide to repair....at minimal you will need to replace three boards. Power supply, buffer boards and sometimes a Y board. At its best it may operate for three months and go down. This TV has served its purpose. Shop new. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV Repair.

CHECK YOUR VIDEO INPUTS. THE HD SIGNAL IS TAKING OVER ALOT OF THE ANALOG SIGNAL.MAYBE A STRONGER ANTENNA OR ADJUSMENTS MIGHT WORK AS WELL.

SOURCE: 42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

I have a similar issue. Sometimes the entire screen goes black and sometimes only one-half - either the top or bottom half goes black. The only solution we have found is to gently tap the TV (usually the front side) and the picture will come back for awhile. It almost seems heat related as it only goes out after the first 10 minutes of use. There must be a fix to this.

SOURCE: lg lcd tv keeps changing chanels

Come on, lets try to solve this. Take the batteries out of the remote so it can't interfere and try changing the channels and volume with the buttons on the tv. If this works then someone has spillled something onto the remote and gummed it all out. You simply need to take the remote apart and clean it out. If the buttons on the tv do th same as the remote did then yes, take it back.

Remove one at a time the Y sus and Y buffer cables that go to the power board and see if the set stays on then, you may have a distorted pic, replace the board that makes the set stay on...there are some transistors on the buffer board that give issues a lot and I'd guess that's where your issue is at

When i inplug my lg 50pk750 plasma to power sorce turn on and before show the picture it turn off.

This issue is a common, but hardly talked about from LG. Your tv is probably 1 or 2 months out of warranty, and now you're hearing a series of clicks. After weeks of fighting with LG to replace my tv, i decided to fix it myself. i'm proud to announce that my 50PK540 is now working. want proof? Take a look at the video i posted on youtube, then you will have a better understand why your tv is clicking... I'm also selling the repair kit for this power supply board on ebay now. LG power supply Board model number EAY60968801. With anyone of these PCB # EAX61392501/7, EAX61392501/10, EAX61392501/11, or EAX61392501/12 with the parts if this kit, I've also fis several 50PK750 models, Some clients have send me their broken power supply board, so I can do the repairs. Please Make sure that you've already gone through the process of troubleshooting and testing your tv's power supply board before making any purchases.. I recommend that you get a tv tech to check it out, because every tv is different. Email at bigthings09@gmail.com if you have any question.and watch the video:

My LG Plasma 42PC3D turns on and off repeatedly. I turn on my FIOS set top box first and than the TV and it turns on and off repeatedly (front bottom display goes red and green, red and green repeatedly)....

Your plasma TV has a power supply 6709900019A. These power supplies failed due to defective capacitors. See the picture below and check the capacitors mark with the red lines. There are 10 capacitors that should be replaced even if they do not show signs of bulging/swelling on top.
The value of the capacitors is 3300uF/10V but you can use 25 volts as long as they fit in the space provided by design.

This is almost certainly the device that sends electricity to the the plasma in the panel after failing. Bring to your local repair shop and expect to pay 300-400 parts and 100-200 labour.

Cheers,
