I have a Ryobi backpack blower, just put a brand new carburetor on it but it only runs with the choke on. Will not increase power when pulling trigger. Goes dead when you move the choke lever.

SOURCE: Ryobi backpack blower will run all day with choke

Thats a lean condition. Check fuel lines and fuel filter. If the fuel ilnes are discolored or stiff or really super mushy, If the fuel filter has become detatched from the fuel line then the fuel lines need to be replaced.
If the carb can be adjusted you can try to adjust but its likely that the carb should be rebuilt with new diaghrams and gaskets.
Adjust by turning the low speed screw out ( counterclockwise) 1/2 a turn. The low speed screw is always the one closest to the motor and usually marked on the carb body with an 'L'. When you richen a motor up the idle will drop so you will probably have to turn the idle screw in 1/2 a turn. 1 and 1/2 turns out from light bottom is standard starting point ( 2 turns for poulan products). If you get more than 3 and 1/2 turns out on the low speed screw or if turning the screw has little or no effect then the carb should be rebuilt.

Ryobi 9600 backpack blower. Starts great. Set to run, continues running. Upon attempt to use throttle, engine dies. Acts like choking out but removed carb cover an choke is no closing.

this sounds strangely like the high speed jet/pathway in the carb is clogged up with something ,

the best way to fix it is dissasmbly and cleaning of carb in solvent , but ive also had some limited sucess in past of using car fuel cleaner (says on bottle "cleans as you drive") too

Ryobi CS30 Trimmer starts and runs in full choke and half choke but stumbles and stalls on run. Not up to full rpms when in full choke and half choke....

You probably need a slight carburetor adjustment. Try to turn the L mixture screw (the one near the bottom of the carburetor on the air filter side, closest to the engine) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise. These mixture adjustment screws ( L and H) have odd heads on them and conventional tools won't turn them. I use an automotive type plastic wire connector (around 22 gauge) with a ring terminal end which I can hold. Tap the plastic end of the wire terminal connector onto the head of the screw with a small hammer and this will enable you to adjust the L screw. This adjustment will increase you high speed side and possibly allow it to run off choke in a regular manner.

Blower will only run on full choke ryobi ry08578

They aren't designed to run with full choke on, the choke is for starting cold engines only, many times you can choke them pull the cord a few times and then turn the choke off or turn it down to start it. Then slowly reduce the choke until it runs fine on its own.

The best way to start cold husqv leaf blower 145

Most of the small outdoor power equipment that I have used takes the following to start:

1. Prime 6-8 times, or whatever the manual calls for.

2. Choke the carb to full choke.

3. Pull starter rope. It may sputter and die.

4. After it sputters and dies, put the choke on 1/2. Pull a time or 2 more and should start. Run like that 10 seconds or so, then take choke all the way off.

Ryobi blower will not start unless primed by

If it is under 2 years old, I would take it to a warranty repair center. The carburetor have been giving some problems so they have needed to be replaced because they are sub standard quality.

How do you change the fuel filter on a ryobi backpack blower Model RY08570?

Disconnect the fuel Line from the carburetor and, using needle nose pliers, grab the fuel line in the tank just behind the filter and pull the line and filter out of the tank. BE CAREFUL YOU DO NOT PULL THE LINE ALL THE WAY OUT OF THE THE TANK!! Pull the filter off and replace with the new one and put the new filter back in the tank, then reconnect the other end of the fuel line to the carburetor. Hope this helps!

Low RPM's Ryobi 25.4 cc backpack blower

Remove the muffler and you should find that it will run at full speed. The muffler is clogged with carbon. You will have to replace the muffler since it is sealed. If you want the muffler cleaned you can contact southern supply company at 205-833-2525 or email them at

[email protected] and I feel sure Jason or

someone there can help you.

Ryobi RY08576 25.4cc was started without mixed fuel

If the engine is sticky ie harder to pull it might have to be pulled apart new piston and honing of cylinder. not difficult just a pain. If it doesn't seem any harder to pull, Drain all of the unmixed fuel. Put a few drops of 2cylinder oil in the spark plug hole and pull the starter a few times with the plug out of it. Put a few more drops in repeat. Replace the plug (new plug) Put in mixed fuel prime the system cross your fingers and it should start up for you.
