SOURCE: Carrier jam on dell 924 printer??
I was able to fix this issue on my all-in-one 944 printer. What happened was that one of the ink cartridge lids had popped open. The hard part was that the carrier was stuck on the far left side, and I wasn't able to pull it over for easer access. However, I was able to fit a finger in and push the cartridge back down. Then when I turned the printer back on the error went away.
Hope this helps

If the noise starts when you power on the machine(within2-10sec.) it could be a venting fan or the polygon motor. If the noise starts when the machine warms up it could be the fusing unit or the imaging unit. To test the polygon motor press 10871087select sim.100 and choose laser motor on.(ON is pressing start key). This is one easy step to locate the noise. To exit the simulation press3 times the stop/clear key, then 001and start. To test the fan just listen carefully on the left side of the copier. The fusing and imaging unit tests are a little dificult to explain since they require to operate the machine with open doors and bypassed switches.(But try to run sim.030 to check the motors indivintualy.Enter with 10871087 then030 then start then choose main motor and listen for the noise. Then exit by pressing 3 times the stop/clear key and 001 and start key).PLEASE don't try any other sim. codes by yourself since you will damage either quality or functionallity.

Hello there,If the paper is lodged too far into the printer and can't be removed: Press the power button to turn the printer off.
Pull firmly on the paper to remove it. If you can't reach the paper because it is too far in, raise the front cover and remove the paper from the front of the printer.
Close the front cover.
Press the power button to turn the printer back on.
Resend your document to print.
Ensure that:
The paper is a recommended paper for Laser printers.
You do not force the paper down into the printer when you load it. For example, if you are loading letter or A4 size paper, the top edge of the paper should extend above the top of the sheet feeder.
The printer is on a flat, level surface.
The left paper guide is against the side of the paper.
You do not load too much paper in the sheet feeder. Depending on the thickness of your paper, the sheet feeder can hold up to 100 sheets of paper.
The left paper guide does not cause the paper to bend in the sheet feeder.
Your printer feeds regular paper as expected. If regular paper feeds without causing problems, load the envelopes vertically against the right side of the sheet feeder. Make sure the paper guide is against the side of the envelopes.
Envelopes or the appropriate specialty papers are selected in the printer driver.
You are using a paper or envelope size supported by your printer.
