The Poulan Wildthing air filter should be installed dry. It can be cleaned with warm, soapy water, rinsed well, dried thoroughly, and then reinstalled if there are no breaks in the filtering media.

Wild thing saw brand new used once, over heating, not wanting to cut, why?

If there is no oil getting to the chain, you will have metal to metal contact between the chain and the bar with no oil film, the chain will look dry and be covered in baked on resin from the heat, make sure you have adiquate chain oil in the oil chamber, this chamber is seperate to the fuel chamber, it should be filled with a non fling chain oil.

The oiler will not work i took the bar and chain off cleaned everything but it will not oil the chain

Most machined will have an oil filter in the tank, drain the chain oil out and fill the oil tank with a suitable cleaning fluid, rinse the tank out a few times, this will help to clean the filter if it is blocked.

What is the gas/oil mixture for the poulan wild thing chain saw please?

Use a quality 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil. Poulan recommends a good quality 2-cycle air-cooled oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1 (A 40:1 ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2 onces of oil with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline). When mixing fuel, follow the instructions printed on the container. Always read and follow the safety rules relating to fuel before fueling your unit.. Be Safe!

14 inch poulan chain saw air filter are they oil saturated or dry

Most are saturated due to the proximity to the carburetor throat which tends to spit fuel as it runs, especially at idle.

Need to have a manual on this wild thing so that i know the right ratios for the gas.

This Chain Saw requires a 40:1 gasoline to oil mixture. This is typical for all 2-cycle motors. More information can be found here:

Remove the bar and chain. Start the engine and observe the side of the engine where the bar fits to it. The oil port there should ooze oil out when the engine runs fairly fast. If nothing, then investigate the filter within the oil tank for plugging, the oil line from the tank to the pump for any damage or decay, and the oil pump itself. The pump should discharge directly to the port that the bar receives. If oil did ooze out of the port on the first test, then clean the oil passages in the bar end--two small channels that run from each large hole out to the chain groove on each side. Clean the entire chain groove. Check the sprocket on the other end for fairly free turning--oil it's bearing. Examine the chain carefully--if it got so hot that it turned the teeth blue--replace the chain, it has lost it's tempering. Assemble bar and chain--adjust the chain so that the lower side doesn't droop from the bar, and you can turn the chain by hand. The teeth cut toward you on the bottom run. If the old chain is being reused, sharpen the chain carefully so that it cuts quickly without undue effort on your or the engine's part. Hope this helps!

My pulan wil thing is dieing after I cut through a

MIne was doing the same thing. I cleaned the sponge air filter. That helped but then I poured some combustion chamber cleaner into the carb and that solved it. Now it would idle all day if I let it.

Always measure oil mixture carefully. These saws are fussy and don't like too rich an oil mixture!

Hope this helps!
