CD player stopped working; nothing happens when I push the "play" button. I don't know where to take it to get it fixed; the repair person I took it to told me I should get an MP3 player!

Quite common problem. Repair it or replace your player if repair cost is too high. Personally, I stopped using CD players time ago: I use a mp3 player.
Hi there,
Try stopping the current track, and then pushing and holding the stop button. That should power it down. It also has an auto-off feature if you leave the player on while nothing is playing.
Alex
The unit has a hold button that keeps you from accidentally
activating the device when it's in a purse or backpack, which preserves
battery power and also prevents changing tracks if buttons are accidentally pushed while in play mode. Look on the player for the hold button and turn it to the off position. I hope this helps and good luck!
Hold down the Display/Menu function button (one of those three buttons on the left of the unit) for about 3-4 seconds until the display reads "t set". When this appears, push the track forward button once (>>|) so the display reads "beep"; now press the play pause button (>||) once. The display will now say "on", push the track forward button (>>|) once to make it read "off"; now push the stop play button. You're done. Enjoy the silence.
