My Compaq 615 laptop when start the lights come on and runs but black screen? Please help

Double check to make sure there is no floppy disk or CD-ROM disk inserted when you boot. If there is definitely no floppy or CD, your hard drive may have crashed or been corrupted. You can try installing Windows again, but it might not work if your hard drive is faulty. If it's faulty, you'll need to head to the local computer repair shop or have a geek friend help get and install a new one, then reinstall Windows.

Check if any external monitor on or any noisy when you switch on the laptop? If not, the motherboard was faulty, which means the BIOS on the mother board was damaged.

if nothing(even hp logo ) is not coming on the display then please try this.
1.remove the battery and then press the power button for 30 sec.Again refix it and check.
2.If windows sound is there then this mught be the issue with display.

3.If there is no windows sound might be the issue with RAM so please get it checked.
