I have always had great results with my Yamaha and Kawasaki 2-stroke motors by setting the timing at 32' advanced. The motor will be easy to start and run much better coming out of the hole ( bottom end ). They set them up from the factory so they run rich and protect your motor. But if you want it to run like it is capable of running, you gotta bump the timing. "UPDATE">>>Im sorry i thought i was responding to ignition timing not the trim motor.

How can i make my two cycle 485 yamaha engine two cycle turn counterclock wise how do you change the timing

It is true a 2-stroke engine will run backwards. In the UK there used to be an invalid carriage, the invacar, powered by a 2-stroke engine. Starting and battery charging was by a device known as a Dynastart - effectively a dynamo that doubled as a starter motor. It also housed two sets of contact breakers. When reverse was needed a switch changed the polarity and switched to the other contact breakers and the engine would start in the reverse direction. How to change the timing will depend on the ignition system. It would be difficult to modify many of the modern electronic systems and depend on whether the engine is to permanently run backwards or whether it should be selectable and whether high rpm will be needed. Continuous backwards running would probably result in some important nuts and bolts working loose.
