SOURCE: Intel Pentium Dual Core Vs AMD Athlon 64 X2
amd is better for online gaming and grafix, from my personal view they also can take more power, than a standard dual core intel proccessor so id advise you to go for Amd if its for online gaming

I'd advise don't start thinking below E2180. As per the performance go, E2180 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ are almost same but E2180 runs cooler. If you are going to use dedicated graphics card, go for E2180 and if you want a CPU for Integrated Graphics go for AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ because most of the 780G/790X chip-based AMD-compatible boards offer superior IGP.
Best wishes...

After looking at the manual, it does appear that the_fire may be correct. Your on-board video has a max shared memory of 512MB. If it is set the max, that is exactly why you only show 2.5GB.
This is from your manual:
Graphics Radeon HD 3300
Onboard side port memory 64MB (TA790GX A2+)
Onboard side port memory 128MB (TA790GX 128M)
Max Shared Video Memory is 512MB
