The bobbin tension is way too tight. Adjust the bottom tension until you have a nice stitch when the top tension is at four. That means your knot is made and ends in the middle of the fabric.

I had this problem and it all came down to using the wrong backing. I kep trying to use tearaway on everything but WRONG. Using the proper backing corrects most problems. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Thread is bunching underneath fabric

Needle in correct? Be sure your bobbin is not in upside down and turning the wrong way. Possibly the hook that the bobbicase fits in/on has been hit by a needle and caused a burr that is catching the thread as it comes around. The burr would have to be polished off or hook replaced. The machine could be slightly out of time also.

Try making sure that the thread is all the way in the tension disk then test it out. I had a similar experience with an old machine.

Refer to your machine for cleaning the bobbin area.

You will need to clean this area often as lint and thread snips can build up can cause the bobbin feed to malfunction.

If this continues after you have cleaned the machine, the timing may need to be adjusted by a sewing machine tech.

Cotton is loose/looping under material?

Sounds like bird nesting.
The #1 thing is to install a brand new needle (old, worn, nicked, or bent needles can create a lot of havoc).

Remove all the thread from the machine. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning verifying that it is threaded correctly. Make sure the bobbin is loaded and threaded in the bobbin case properly.

Why is the fabric bunching into the bobbin when embroidering with the Singer Futura

bobbin thread is too high pressure or too low pressure on teh top adjustment!

remove bobbin and turn tension screw about 1/8turn left (anticlockwise) check if still grabbing, if so - top thread turn about 1/4 turn (at embroidery ir should do automatically, but sometimes need kick...).

check if it is still grabbing on the bottom, do it grab during straight? zigzag? double zigzag? if do not - setting on the pattern need to be look at. if it tangle as well on these three - need definitely servicing...

follow manual how to adjust.

Bobbin tread bunches and jams machine

If the bobbin is inserted with the thread spinning the wrong direction this will cause "birdnesting" - thread build up under needle plate, you need to cut thread to get the item off machine. flip the bobbin over into the case and try again. Also make sure you remove ALL thread caught up in "Birdsnest" when they happen.

First change that needle, it's probably bent. Then double check the bobbin/shuttle area for threads wrapped around moving parts.

Brother Sewing Embroidery Machine

I agree with sylviaivie about find another repairman, they are suppose
to guarantee the work they do.
when the upper shaft is replaced & then the machine is retimed
the machine should work just fine.
but just don't take it back to that man to be repaired
here is a tip if it happens again,,
always try to cut the top thread first,
& turn the machine up on it's back to access the bottom cover
take the cover off the bottom to get access to the bobbin thread
where you can cut the bobbin thread
then you should be able to get the needle out without breaking it &
damaging the upper shaft, replace the needle & make sure
that the thread is good quality & not knotty, clean out the bobbin area of lint or thread
always change the needle on the embroidery machine every project
make sure the bobbin area is kept clean of lint or thread
clean under the needle plate at least once a week for lint if you
embroidery everyday or just often

Bobbin thread tangling up

are you doing embroidery? if so turn off jump stitch cutting if possible. is the machine threaded correctly (pull needle thread out of machine and thread again with presser foot raised.

check for foreign matter in needle tension assembly. ensure there is sufficient needle thread tension.

the thread you see caught up underneath the fabric will be needle thread and indicates insufficient needle thread tension or something preventing the needle thread from being pulled up into the fabric (maybe a damaged bobbin case, or bobbin case position finger, or damaged needle plate hole).
