Try cleaning the battery contacts, if that doesn't work you may need to open up the control and clean the button contacts inside.

You can use any digital camera or camcorder in order to check the remote control. Direct the remote (press any button) in direction of camera lens. If remote works you will see the bright spot on your camera screen. If you need more info please advice.
