My Canon Powershot SD1000 will not focus

I was taking pictures and I went to review them and halfway through all the photos they became blurry. I tried taking pictures after that and the camera just seems to not know how to focus. I notice that when I get up to 3x zoom it can focus and take quality pictures. I cleaned the lens, as well as made sure it was on the correct setting, these are not the problems. Is the lens stuck or broken inside? Does it need to be sent in to be fixed?

SOURCE: Pictures are blurry; quality of photos seem compromised

As simple as this may sound, have you cleaned the lens lately? A lot of image quality deterioration comes from a finger print or other smudge on the lens. Digital cameras are succeptable to even the smallest gunk on the lens. Because the lens element is very tiny, use a cotton swab with a drop of lens cleaner (or isopropyl alcohol) to thouroughly clean and dry the lens. If it isn't a dirty lens, check your file-size and flash settings.

Sounds like you may not be in "Auto" mode. Press the "Func/Set" button, then press Right or Left to select the "Auto" mode.

Most pictures that I take with my Canon powershot SD 1200is, come out blurry.

Try pressing the shutter button halfway before you take your picture. This opens the lens for exposure and also triggers autofocus based on your camera settings. Once you do that and aim your camera properly, you can press the button all the way to take a photo.

When i take pictures with my canon powershot camera it is blurry and it is blurry normally too

NORMALLY YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE SHUTTER BUTTON DOWN HALFWAY, & WAIT FOR A GREEN LIGHT TO LIGHT, THEN PRESS THE SHUTTER BUTTON ALL THE WAY DOWN. THIS STEP SETS THE AUTO FOCUS ON THE CAMERA.

Out of focus shot on Auto setting

Do you have it inn "macro" mode? See the little flower/mountain button on the back of your camera. Press it once until the mountain icon shows on the screen. This is for normal "distant" photos. Or press it once more until the little flower icon reappears. This is for extreme close-ups, like taking pictures of flowers. This sounds like what you probably had it in.

But really, your little camera can do so much more. Recommend that you take a look at this. It's an 8 mb download, but you should read it:

I need help taking action pictures - 90% of them come out blurry

I would suggest using the Kids & Pets option, but you have to use a flash for that to work. I have been trying to figure out a way to take clear action photos without a flash, but I think it's impossible.

Can't switch from photo taking to photo review

Assuming your LCD still works, go to the camera settings and reset the entire camera to the default factory settings. This will help you determine if it is a hardware or software problem. If you are still unable to get into the photo review, you may have a hardware problem.
