Bulb replacement

Is it an over-the-range (OTR) microwave or a countertop microwave? If it's an OTR microwave, are you talking about the light(s) on the bottom of the microwave, or the one that lights up the cavity when you open the door or run the microwave?
If it's an OTR microwave, and the cavity light is burned out, you MAY be able to access it by removing the grill vent by removing the 2 to 4 screws above it. Then, depending on the model, either slide the grill vent to the left and pull it out, or else pull out the top part of it first. Then, if there is one, you may see an access cover behind the grill vent. Unplug the microwave, then remove the 2 screw that holds the access cover in place, and lift up and remove the cover. You should now be able to get to the light bulb.
If it's a counter-top microwave, you will have to remove the complete cover by removing the screws on the back, and possibly a couple of the sides. Note, 2 screws are special security screws to prevent the casual customer from fixing his own microwave oven! UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE FIRST, then remove the cover screws. Slide the cover back about 1/2 inch, and then it should come completely off. You should now be able to see the light bulb to change it. Then reverse the process to put the cover back on. I hope this helps.

How do I remove case of GE Jem31 microwave. There are only 3 screws on bottom and the back screws at the bottom are star shaped with donut around a peg.

You need a special screwdriver to get those star shaped screws out. I would suggest going to a hardware store or their website and look for "Tamper-proof Torx" screwdrivers or bits. You are probable going to need either a #15 or a #20 bit to get those screws out. Normally there are no screws on the bottom that hold the side cover on unless they are actually on the side of the microwave. The front is held on by clips mounted on the cover itself, so you need to make sure you catch them when you put the cover back on. Good Luck!

MICROWAVE DOOR SAGS CAUSING IT NOT TO OPERATE

I just repaired a different brand of microwave a few weeks ago with the same problem and all it ended up being was some loose screws on the bottom hinge. Take your plate out and then turn your microwave on it's back and see it there are screws in the hinge area and make sure they are tight. If they are, then it might be the upper hinge that is loose and you would have to take off the outside cover to reach those screws and more than likely you would need a special torx screwdriver to get those screws out. If you have access to that kind of screwdriver, just be careful when you take the cover off and put it back on that you get all of the clips back in the right place so that the cover goes back on correctly. Always remember to unplug your microwave if you are going to take the cover off.

Cuisinart microwave CMW-100. How do I change the lightbulb?

You need to remove the cover from the oven. Pull the plug first! Remove the Philips Screws. There are two special screws that are meant to prevent your proceeding further. No standard driver will fit these screws. You can remove them with small pliers gripping the outer edge of the screw and turning counter clockwise. If you are not familiar with capacitors, get somebody who is familiar. The light socket snaps in. Unsnap it. The lamp is taped to the socket with cellophane tape. I have never removed the lamp nor do I know the number. Do not plug in the oven with out the cover!!!!!

My Cuisinart Microwave's carousel doesn't turn. The heating function works fine. Can this be repaired?

This could be a very simple repair. The carousel is rotated by a small motor located under the bottom panel of the oven. This small motor has a coupler attached to it, that the glass tray sits on. The motor can be accessed by performing the following steps:

1. Unplug the microwave oven and open the oven door. Remove the glass tray.

2. Remove the small coupler by pulling straight up on it.

3. Close the oven door and locate the bottom panel screws UNDER the microwave oven.

4. Remove the screws and the bottom panel will open (some are hinged from the back).

5. Remove the connector plug and mountuing screws to the motor and that's it.

6. Re-install new motor using the steps provided in reverse order.

NOTE: This repair can be performed with the oven in place if it is mounted above a range. No need to uninstall. Just make sure the power is turned off to the unit before servicing anything inside.

Replacement motors can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com

All these sites offer great service, with competitive pricing, so shop around for the best deal. If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Turntable not turning

You have two options to fix the problem, it is most likely a small motor that is in the bottom of the microwave, it is something that should be replaced by a trained repair person, if you are going too do this yourself, you may need too purchase a special screw bit for security screws in the back of the microwave, unplug the microwave, if you remove the screws from the back of the microwave, the outter shell called the shroud, slides off going toward the back of the microwave, after you slide it off, look for a silver oval piece that is anywhere from 2.5" to 4.5" in height with wires going too the terminals, if you see one, carefuly take a rubber handled screw driver and touch the screw driver across the terminals and do this untill you cant hear a snapping sound anymore.........look at the bottom of the microwave and you will see the motor to replace...............the other option is that it may be a loose connection, either way you must defuse the copasitor first, aka the silver oval piece.....
