We have a Phillips 19 inch TV/VCR combo but have lost the remote. Universal remotes( we've tried 3) haven't worked. We can't get the channels to change. The channel button on the TV just goes from AV In to Ch 33. How can we get a code for a universal remote OR how can we get the Channel button on the TV to work? We want to set the TV up to work with an over the air converter box, and have to be able to set the channel to 3.
Hi,
I cannot be sure of the exact model but... Press and hold the TV's volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously. On many older televisions, this opens the device menu without the use of a remote. Otherwise, use the menu button, which you can navigate in a similar fashion.
Also, somewhere should be an input button. Press it multiple times times to switch between various inputs (the input must match whatever input you are using). Usually after these menus are opened you can use vol up vol down to change things.

You can always push "03" on a universal remote programmed to work your TV. A better solution is to connect the devices properly. You shouldn't use the tuner inputs for a VCR/DVD player, or you will get a poorer picture and no stereo sound. See the instruction manual for your player and TV. Use a stereo audio/video cable to connect them and select the proper input. The instructions will hopefully clarify this.

With nearly all brands of universal remote control, there is usually more than one code for Philips. Keep going through the codes until you find one that works correctly.
So if you know that the 1st code doesn't work, then don't save it, and move to the next.
You may find that several codes will actually put the TV into standby, but other functions will be different.

you'll need to bring up the menu, under "channels" or "set-up" you will find something called autotune (or manual channel set-up). it will automatically set the channels you pick up.
