SOURCE: I have a Technics stereo integrated amplifier SU

It chirped because the bearings were worn out, then it froze up and isn't moving any air. Get it replaced. DO NOT run the unit if it keeps overloading or you will have a bigger problem.

My Technics Graphic Equalizer SH-D5000 is the display and the on/off button not working. What might be the cause?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to a Technics Equalizer category.

Failed components inside is the only answer without testing. Open it up and look for circuit board damage or blown capacitors. In reality, you need to take it to a service centre where they have the test equipment and knowledge.

Would I be able to connect an external Technics SH-8036 Stereo Graphic Equalizer to my Technics SA-500 receiver?

Yes, it is hooked up using the (cassette) tape inputs and outputs. Use the tape monitor switch on the receiver to switch the EQ in or out.

How do I connect a graphic equalizer to a Cambridge audio 851 amplifier?

I found only an 851A amp - I hope it is what you have or very similar. You can add an equalizer (or tape recorder for that matter) easily by making use of the amplifier's "Record In" & "Record Out" jacks. The amplifier's "Record Out" jacks should be patched to the equalizer's "In" jacks and the amplifier's "Record In" should be patched to the equalizer's "Out" jacks.

On the amp, select your source (1, 2, etc.) as usual. Press the "Rec In" button to divert the stereo source signals to the equalizer for customized shaping before being amplified - press again to bypass the equalizer and send the source stereo signals directly to the amplifier - and speakers.

Hooking up EQ to RECIEVER for a TECHNICS MODEL SH-8017

You'll need 4 connections total. On my integrated amp, I connected the four connections to all Line In and Line Out ports. And the other ends into the tape 2/EXTRA ports respectively.

How do I hook up a stereo reciver to the technics su-g91

I assume you want to use the SU-G91 as a power amplifier to drive your speakers. If your receiver has connections for inserting an equalizer (may be labeled pre-amp output and power amp input), remove the jumpers between the pre-amp and the power amp, then run cables from the pre-amp to the SU-G91 inputs. You can have an equalizer between the receiver and the integrated amplifier.
If this is not available, use the recording output (for a tape recorder on older receivers). Note that the volume control on the receiver will be bypassed with this connection.
