The LG Optimus Big LG-LU6800 is a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) unit. A network (usually a Korean network) connects directly to the unit using its unique code. It doesn`t have a sim card slot. If you want to use it, you need to contact a network provider and register your LG LU6800 for it to get signals in your area, either by prepaid or postpaid service. The device can still be used but without the network call and messaging feature since you will not be getting signals from a network unless you register it. There is a rumorred Mini-sim card slot on a model of the unit. Users use a micro-sim card instead for those unit since there is an issue fitter the prior sim card size. If you are unable to find the sim card slot (visible when you remove the battery) then you most probably have the CDMA version.
Hi! Sadly this phone is only available with Verizon, so they built it so you couldn't change sims (you actually don't need it physically to work). I'm guessing you want to use it with another company? This special phones wont work with any other network (they can't be unlocked since there's no sim to be swapped).
Miquel.
Have you tried doing a hard reset with your sim card in the phone. With the phone on, pull the battery out and put it back in, then turn the phone on it it doesn't start automatically. It should pick up your info from the card. Let me know if this helps.
I have run into this problem a few times. So far, the first time I had to cold reboot the phone to factory settings. The second time, I noticed that it seems like a txt message is stuck, so I called the person and had them send a second message to push the first one through. This seem to correct it a bit. I then too out the battery and the sim card and restarted the phone without the sim card. Made sure that the contacts were all there, synced it and then put back the sim card for operation. So far so good. I also checked, and found out that my sim card is still Cingular, which might also be a problem so I am going to change it for an AT&T one to see if it finalizes the solution.
Open the battery cover, take out the battery, and there will be a SIM card in a small metal holder. Release the clip holding it down or slide it out of its holding slot (choose which mechanism your phone has), and there you have it. Your SIM card!
Contact your cellular service provider and have it provide you with a new SIM card. Let it know your account and phone number so that it can transfer your phone service to the new SIM card.
Check the manual that came with your phone to see if the SIM card is found in the standard location beneath the battery or if it's located somewhere else.
Turn your phone over and remove the back plate by pushing down on the slide panel and sliding it away from you. Remove the plate and then put your finger in between the battery and the side wall. Push the battery away and pull it out of the phone.
See if the SIM card has a metal covering. Remove the covering if there is one present and then pull the SIM card out.
Place the new SIM card in the card holder and then snap back down the metal covering. Make sure to place the card in the same direction as the old card or your phone will not be able to read it. Put the battery back in and then place the back panel back on. Power on your phone to ensure that the SIM is working properly.
WARNING
SIM cards come in different carrying capacities that may not work with all phones. Be sure to check with your provider to find out what size card your phone uses if you plan to purchase a SIM card from a source other than your cellular carrier.
Do not enter in any codes if the phone asks for a "PUK" or "SIM lock" code. Contact your cellular provider immediately and request the code because if you enter in an incorrect code, your SIM card will permanently deactivate itself
I had the same issue. Assuming that the phone still works, you can copy all the numbers onto the SIM card. Then put the SIM card in a different phone and copy them back off again.
To do this hit this sequence of buttons: The Left next button(little dash in the top left corner) - pulls up menu #8 - goes to address book #5 - "copy all contacts" #2 - "handset to smartchip" #1 - "keep original" #1 - "yes"
Give it a minute or two to copy the numbers. Then power it down. The SIM card is underneath the battery.
All mobiles have a sim card and are normally located under the battery.
Take the back of your phone, remove the battery and it should be there. Sim cards are normally a small oblong piece of plastic with a corner cut off. The flip side of one will have a metal strip, which is your sim memory. Don't damamge this side of the sim otherwise your card will be useless.
