SOURCE: Replacing the main Board to eliminate howling noise

I have had a number of these complaints and I have always repaired it by replacing the evap fan motor. It is a much cheaper part, however, its way more difficult to install than the main board. Yes many other techs say it can be resolved with a new main board and yes it is just a matter of plugging the wires in. I would be very interested to see if indeed it does resolve the howling. It will come with an instruction sheet that says you will need to cut a wire from one of the harnesses. Just disregard this if indeed your model is the one that you selected and is fairly new. (PSS26msr). If you would like to take advantage of my employee discount I can send you the part for $100 plus $20 shipping. Just let me know.

SOURCE: Main Power Board

The power supply board can be changed without any knowledge of repair but there are sometimes adjustments necessary if the picture is not normal. Many times it is fine. There a 4-5 voltage adjustments that would take some knowledge and a meter to accomplish. You need to hope it was diagnosed properly first. If it is completely dead the p.s is a good possibility. If it clicks on then back off almost immediately it is not likely the power supply.

Sony bravia kdl-46Xbr4 right side of screen is darker until the tv warms up flickers like a floresent bulb and is a brownish color

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Sony videoscope xbr

would think you need to replace the cable board etc. the signal is not getting in and out right. can also be a fault on the power board giving the wrong volts so would check this to. it will tell you on the board what volts is supposed to be. the 5v and 12v should be spot on other volts will vary a little. also check the capacitors for the caps to be bowed up and a brown/ yellow gunk around them and under the board this can be a sign they are failing.

If you mean KV none of the boards are available new from Sony any more, PTS Electronics does rebuild them but it is not cheap, most of these sets are getting replaced and recycled as they weigh a ton and are expensive to fix.

I have a 46 inch Sony Bravia 46 XBR4 set. The right side went out only colored lines appear. The rest of the screen is fine. email address GLCSS19@AOL.COM.

Sounds like the tcon (timing control) board. Sometimes unplugging the LVDS cables from the tcon, cleaning and reconnecting solves this. The catches on the LVDS cables are easily damaged and must be handled carefully.
