Which presser foot do I use to sew piping? - Sewing Machines

SOURCE: Presser foot down, but still get error "E1"

I had the same problem. It started after I took the cover off to fix something else. After I screwed the cover back on, I kept getting the E1 message even when the foot was already down. I took the cover off again, and I found that there is a metal tab at the top left of the front cover, that is pushed by a metal tab in the back that moves when you put the presser foot up or down. You can see this metal tab moving in the back if you put the foot up and down with the cover off. Just putting the foot down(I think) before putting the cover back on fixed it so one metal tab is on the correct side of the other metal tab.

That's the problem seized up use a penetrating oil from the top and work it up and down and it should free up

This is a relatively easy adjustment as I just did one last week but I'm not sure I can explain it. Anyway, open up the lamp cover and look at the top of the presser bar. There is a sensor that is easily adjusted. It has a small phillips screw that you need to loosen. Then move the black 'L' shaped piece either up or down a little (I can't remember which way) and re-tighten the screw, you may need to experiment. The 'L' shaped piece is a flag that goes between two sensors when the foot is raised and can be rotated left and right about 10 degrees. I hope that helps.

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual.
