Question about Garden
It is very possible that you installed the plug to the switch upside down. I have seen this done before, because of my own mistake. The funny part is that the plug will install both ways. Try it. Good Luck Friend.

Try putting a jumper wire on the wire going from the engine to the seat. Take that plug and put a wire from one side to the other. Be careful not to cut your feet off when engaging deck.

There is an operator presence switch under the seat...it is more than likely faulty and must be replaced in order for the mower to run right.

They wear out. How old is the mower? Mine just gave out this week in the peak of hay season. (my grass) The wire can be unhooked from the PTO clutch and a 12 volt jumper can test it, if it jumps, it is good, if not, it is shorted out, they are expensive, I found 3 of them all the wrong size for mine. Try to find the same one. Ebay has a couple on there right now. Check it out.
