SOURCE: No sound

I've had my speakers for about a year now and all of a sudden they just stopped playing music/sound. I can still hear that 'fuzz' if I put either speaker up to my ear. Everything lights up properly but nothing is being played.

SOURCE: Radio lights dim and go out when I hear a squealing sound

Hello Frankmaggart,
Thank you for choosing FixYa.com my name is David.
It sounds like the serpentine belt slipping possibly from either a weak belt tensioner or
your alternator may be trying to lock up look at your belt to make sure it is good and tight
and there isnt no signs of wear or cracking if all that looks good my suggestion is have your
alternator checked out at your local part store.

SOURCE: Vostro 1500 speaker problem

Make sure you dont have the laptop muted. Seems simple, but ive caught myself with a muted computer before. First, check to see if your computer is muted, by looking at the little speaker icon by the clock. if there is no speaker there, go into control panel> sounds and audio devices, and check there. Lastly if you have no sound, check your media player, because the player itself can be muted/turned down as well. I hope that helps

SOURCE: when watching a DVD, the surround sound plays all

If there is nothing at all from the center channel while watching a DVD, first try resetting the system (unplug the power cord from the sub, and the DC power cord from the media center for 30+ seconds) If a reset doesn't help this, run the "adaptIQ" setup disc again. Honestly, this is a very odd problem for that system to have. (especially since we know the center speaker works for other sources) I hope this helps.

My 602 xls plays for 25 mins and then switches off. I switch it on after 5mins , It then works but switches off again

Got the same problem on my amp right now.
Trough the schematics i could see that transistors bc184l & bc214l could be the cause in my case. If i turn it on, it can be ok for hours. Untill i turn up the knob with a speaker connected, in 30 sec it shuts down. The PTC on the rectifier board gets hot and also R21&R23 a bit. I will try to change the 3 pnp/npn and also tip50G.
I'll tell you how it will be...

Crown XLS 602 power amp: Where inside is the fuse so I can replace it?

Hi Tom,

The fuse you may be referring from the power supply is not

used(none) instead a CB1 or circuit breaker is installed.

These breaker is in series with the power transformer ( trace it).

Disconnect the AC outputs of the power transformer when trying to

reset.( of course with the unit unplugged ).

Measure the output AC voltages, if it is OK

Be happy partially!

Next would be.....

Check for possible shorts on the Positive and Negative Supply

rails to ground or speaker out, for what might have caused the

breaker to tripped.

And these wont be easy troubleshooting , Good luck!!

thanks for choosing Fixya for assistance.

I have a dell computer that runs windows xp. im not a complete idiot but im not very computer savvy. I was messing around a few weeks ago trying to clean up my system from the previuos owners stuff . i...

Many Dell PCs have an internal speaker that will allow sounds and even music to play - it is just not as good as the external types that offer sub woofers and stereo sound. As long as you're hearing the familiar Windows Sounds and not simple beeps - your sound card drivers are probably ok.

This makes me think that you've either inserted the speaker plug into the wrong jack on the PC or have an issue with the speakers themselves. Generally, these jacks are color coded. If yours are, make sure that speakers are connected to the GREEN jack. If not color coded there should be an indication of an arrow pointing OUT or a speaker icon near the speaker jack. If still no luck, it is possible that the cord between the plug and the speakers has gotten pinched or broken. Try plugging a pair oh head phones into the jack - or plug the speakers into another device with a speaker jack. I'm pretty sure you'll get your answer after doing that. Some final thoughts: Maybe your speakers need power? Are they plugged in? Is the outlet powered? Is there a power indicator? Is the volume knob turned to minimum?

If you still have problems - provide the model number of your Dell PC and we can dig some more - but I think you'll find the problem if you follow the steps above.

I hope this was Very Helpful - and good luck!

Left channel not operating on crown xls 602

Every time i have this prob i've blown that channel. In my case i,ve had dodgy connections to my speakers and if it is operating with high voltage rails they don't take much to blow.
Take off cover and you will no doubt find fuses somewhere blown. If it has come from speakers you prob done the amp but if not you might be lucky and just have to replace a single fuse or so.Good luck,Paul

The fault light immediately comes on my Crown XLS 602 power amp immediately upon turning it on. It will not go out?

Hi try disconnecting the speaker outs and turn off bridge (if its on) If it doesnt work still, then suggest direct to a crown agent. The amp has a 3 year no fault warranty. Hopefully its still in!

All the best

No sign of life in external notebook speakers

  1. If the powerlight is turning on some times and off sometimes, Then it may be a problem with the powersupply connected to the speakers. Check it.
  2. If the speakers are on and are not playing, Then try playing some music through alternate source like ipod, walkman etc.If the speakers are playing with alternate music source, The try reinstalling the audio drivers of your note book.
  3. If not then your speakers might have fried up due to some reason.
