the filter cover sometimes gets distorted and the small plastic dimple which presses against the switch doesnt activate correctly, check the lamp cover switch also.
1.unplug power cord 2.plug back in and it should be in stand by mode.(red light on) 3.do not power on 4.on remote push RESET,LEFT ARROW,RIGHT ARROW AND ENTER(do it in less than 5 seconds) 5.after you have done this power on and go to menu and it should show lamp hours 0 6.if it didn't work just do it again, it took me a couple of tries.
Parts store shows this remote as #141861411 but not avail. MCM Electronics has that part number as 1-418-614-11 (RM-SCEX1) under thier order number 32-20405 for $13.80. You may wish to consult your owners manual to verify the number of the orig remote provided before ordering just to be sure.
I have had the same problem with 3 Sony VPL-EX1s and Sony will not answer emails regarding the problem. Hence I wont be purchasing Sony projectors again.
If your two speakers are working,if ok ,then the problem is in power amp section ,the IC chip there is already defected .changed that IC so it works normal again and some reheating works in power amp.section... rate me as FIXYA
