ED55 dryer making screeching noises

My dryer was making screeching noises for a few weeks, now it will not operate (wont adjust temp up/down, wont start drying,. but there is still operation to the power switch (lights still illuminate). I took it apart as I thought it would be the belt, but it is still intact. Any ideas? There was a lot of dust around the electrics inside (like A LOT). Could it just be dust build up and possibly moisture build up in the front panel?

Sounds like the rear tub bearing has worn out that would explain the noise and if it got too bad the bearing can break causing the drum to stick and not be able to turn

Bravos mct Dryer Loud Screeching sound upon startup ModelMEDB850WQ0

A loud screeching sound from your dryer could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Belt: A worn or broken belt can cause a loud screeching sound. To check this, unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Look for any signs of wear or damage to the belt. If it looks worn or broken, you'll need to replace it.
  2. Drum Rollers: Dryer drum rollers can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the rollers may be worn and need to be replaced.
  3. Idler Pulley: A faulty idler pulley can cause a screeching noise. You can check this by removing the belt and spinning the pulley by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Motor: A motor that is failing can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand and listening for any unusual sounds coming from the motor.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.

My maytag neptune dryer mdg5500aww is making a screeching sound. It is drying the clothes but it is getting louder by the day. What part needs to be replaced?

There are 2 wheels in the rear that the drum rotates on - one could be binding. The tensioner has a wheel, check it for rotation. Belt slipping? Check motor for operation - check that plastic blower isn't rubbing in its box. Dryers are easy to disassemble - check YouTube for procedure.

How do I remove the frum from my F&P ED55 Dryer. When it is on it makes a noise only at one part of the drum rotation. I am thinking something like a stud from a pair of jeans being stuck between the...

Sounds more like a pulley wheel gone bad. There are 2 wheels one on each side of dryer drum where it rests . When one wheel goes bad the drum turns on an angle and causes that grinding noise

Engine screeches when running. revving the motor makes it stop momentarily

Could be a belt screeching. Fan belt, A/C belt, Serpentine Belt, alternator belt, etc. Easiest way to isolate which belt is to open the hood and use your ears to see where the screeching is coming from. Left, right, front, behind the engine? Spray some WD-40 on the belt you think is making noise and if it quiets right away, then that is the belt making the noise. Either the tensioner needs adjusting or the belt needs replacing. The WD-40 does not hurt the car, it'll start screeching again in a few days when it wears off.

A loose belt often makes a squeak that pulsates with the clothes hitting the paddles in the drum. It's probably the upper drum glide or rear bearing. If it's a constant screech coming from the front, it's probably the glide. If the noise seems to be in the back, suspect the bearing. You might check for a sock or something small that is stuck somewhere between the drum and the dryer.

Neither are very difficult to repair.
