SOURCE: Bissel 7920 Diverter Valve Install

With the top cover off, turn it over, put the knob in the water only setting, the piston will fit in the slot (only one way), turn the knob some so it will stay on. Put the cover back on, but just before you push it down, turn the knob to the water only setting again, then push the top cover all of the way down. Turn the knob, you can feel if it is in the chamber or not. If not, it won't turn or be hard to turn.

I have a Delta Tub/Spout Pull Down Diverter that has a pretty persistent drip. The HOT and COLD handles are turned off and seem to be as tight as they can be. After doing some research online I believe...

If your Delta RP17453 Pull-Down Diverter Tub Spout stops dripping after 5 minutes, your ok. If it never stops dripping, you need to replace delta faucet cartridge(s) behind the handle(s). This is were the water turns on and off and stops the water flow to the tub spout.

Delta faucets are some of the easiest to repair, and parts are usually available at any hardware store or home center. If you have a two handle faucet, replace both delta seats and springs and stems. If you have a single handle Delta faucet, replace the entire cartridge.

One of 2 things is happening. Either the o-ring is shot, or you have a hairline fracture of the plastic around the brass adapter. The o-ring is a #18, but if there's a crack in the plastic you'll need to replace the spout.

My delta shower diverter is leaking. How do I find a model/ part number to get a repair kit ?

You may only need to soak the old one in vinegar overnight to remove hard water crust.

Take the old one out and take it to the plumbing store and get an identical one. There aren't very many part numbers for this part; all I've seen is for color choice, chrome or bronze. See if they have a special wrench for reinstalling it, as the diverter valve hex head is very thin and if you aren't fairly delicate you can mangle the brass casting of the faucet body (been there) or distort it using channel locks, vice grips and the like when removing the old one (done that).

I have a older Delta shower head/tub combination with scald protection. It leaks from the tub diverter. Where should I start?

I'm assuming that you have a three handle faucet. You need to remove the diverter from the faucet body and while your at it remove the hot and cold stems from the valve body (the parts are inexpensive). Remove the seats inside of the valve body towards the back, replace with new ones. If stems are in good shape, just the washers and seats need to be replaces. If the brass on the diverter or on the hot or cold stems is pitted or marred, then replace the whole thing. The parts should be readily available at most plumbing supply places.
