I have Brother Dreamweaverxe vm6200d sewing machine. It has been working just fine but the other day the upper thread began wrapping around the bobbin. What can I do to fix the problem?

This happens while I am trying to embroidery.

Normally this is caused by the upper thread not being threaded correctly. It is not on the tension disc or not in the thread take up lever. Or if a needle has struck the bobbin case and damaged it, this would cause that to happen.

SOURCE: Upper thread wraps around bobbin mechanism, while sewing

IT PROBABLY IS THREADED INCORRECTLY. GO SLOWLY BY THE DIAPHRAGM AND MAKE SURE IT IS THREADED CORRECTLY. ALSO MAKE SURE SPOOL PIN HOLDERS ARE IN PLACE THAT HELPS TO GUIDE THE THREAD CORRECTLY.

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

I cleaned the machine good with canned air, oiled it. I took out the bobbin case and cleaned it good also. I then noticed the tension screw on the bobbin case was loose, tightened it and the problem was fixed.

check you tension on the top thread and see if you have it threaded the right way. Also see if the indent of your needle "the indent down by the hole on the needle" is facing the hook by your bobbin case that grabs the thread when it comes around.

SOURCE: Upper thread knots up with bobbin thread when sewing a stich

Thread test
Test your thread quality to start, thread your machine and LIFT the presser foot (this opens the tension disks). Pull your top thread straight back. If you feel no tension no mater how much thread you pull, your thread is good. If that your machine passes that test, then let me know, we can go to step 2. If not, try different spool of thread, same test until you get a smooth pull (tip: always check your thread this way when you thread your machine)
Step 2:
Pull on your threaded bobbin thread while it’s in the machine. Does it pull smooth and even? If so, go to step 3. If not, try a new bobbin (bobbins get bent or distorted if wound too tight).
Clean thoroughly in the hook and bobbin case area and oil 1-2 drop is all.
Thread knotting on the bobbin can be a lot of things but here's some guidance:
Tension:
If the thread is loose on the bottom of the fabric, it's actually the top thread is too loose. Think of 2 little elves playing tug of war in your machine, one on toip and one underneath. If you have loops on bottom, the top needs to pull harder (tighten top tension)
Jamming bobbin case:
If it is damaged from turning out of place once, it could have rough spots on it that makes the thread hang on it, and keeps making it turn over and over. Use a finger nail board (fine sanding) and smoothall rough spots. Then reset the bobbin case taking care to put the notch in the bobbin case in alignment with the proper spot in the machine (basically 5 o’clock) when looking at the round area where the bobbin case goes.

My Brother PE 770 will work for about a minute then the upper thread will get so tight that it will break. How do I fix this?

Check that the thread has not wrapped around the thread spool pin or one of the thread guides. Something is holding the thread from unwinding from the thread spool. Old style thread spools also have the small slit to hold the thread tail which will tend to catch the thread (turn the spool over). Sounds like the symptoms I've experienced with this problem.

How do I adjust the tension on brother SE-350?

Before you go adjusting tensions, make sure your upper thread is threaded properly. Always thread with the presser foot in the UP position so the thread can slip easily between the tension discs. Also make sure there are no wraps around the thread spool spindle.

Be certain that you have the bobbin properly inserted as well.

Once you are absolutely certain that there is no issues is threading. The tension is adjusted by a wheel on the top of the machine. Left to loosen, right to tighten the tension.

Brother pc 8500 upper thread breaks

Check the spindle the thread is mounted on and see if it\'s wrapped around it. Sometimes thread will catch and wrap around the spool spindle and break.

Check thread guides to be sure there are no nicks that might be catching the thread or damaging it.

Replace the needle.. a burr in the eye can cause upper thread to break. Needles should be replaced often, modern fibres can be hard on them, they get dull and that\'s no help for anything either.

Make sure the thread spool is mounted on the spindle with the thread coming off as directed in the manual. Some machines only work when the thread feeds in the right direction from the spool.

It can also be a tension issue.. tight upper tension or tight bobbin tension. Bobbin tension may be adjustable manually, but it\'s pretty rare for it be a problem. Upper tension, I don\'t know. I\'ve yet to get into computer machines so am not familiar with how they set upper tension.

But the mechanism that produces the tension can wear out or break and need replacement.

I have a brother pe 770 and the bobbin will not catch the thread. The thread will wrapped and tangled up around the bobbin case and bobbin, but will not catch the bobbin at all. I chcked the needle, it is...

You need to sew the first stitch slowly. Lower the needle by hand and take up carefully. Pull the needle thread up and the bobbin thread should be caught in the formed loop and come with it. Pull them both to the back of the machine and sew.

How to stop bobin thread from knotting

When loading the bobbin there is most likely not enough tension on the thread letting it overlap incorrectly. Try wrapping thread around a tensioner when filling and that should help. That way the bobbin is rolled as tight as the tension on the upper thread when sewing.

You should hold the end of the thread coming through the needle until the thread has grasped the bobbin thread.
