The 40 S&W cartridge is you key. It did not exist prior to 1990 as it was a response to an FBI shootout in which the criminals were armed with automatic weapons (AK-47s).

Musgrave triggers were set at 2 pounds pull weight at the factory. There are two screws with lock nuts on them in the trigger assembly but they only alter the engagement between the trigger and sear, effectively shortening the travel needed to release the striker. This does not lower the trigger pull weight. You have to remember that in a bolt action rifle, you are pulling against the firing pin spring which in some cases can be quite heavy in terms of compression rate of the spring. Since most modern rifles ship from the factory at 4 - 8 pounds of pull, your Musgrave trigger is pretty light at two pounds. Using this in competition requires a standard pull weight, and your job as the shooter is to keep the rifle sighted in through the pull of the trigger past where the weapon fires a cartridge. The follow through is nearly as important as the actual aiming of the rifle. My advice is learn to live with the 2 pound pull.

Nightforce, Leupold and Schmidt-Bender Scope will get up there in the price point. Schmidt-Bender glass especially will be quite expensive. Their high end glass can easily exceed $10,000.

Scopes with fully multi-coated internal glass-to-air surfaces (lenses) are recommended as they allow the highest level of light transmission through the binoculars (90 - 95% of the light that enters the binoculars will reach the eye) with limited internal light scattering and reflectivity. This results in fully multi-coated binoculars, spotting scopes and rifle scopes producing brighter, sharper and higher contrast images than coated or multi-coated binoculars. Unfortunately, fully multi-coated optics are more expensive to manufacture and are often only incorporated into higher-end binoculars, so your choice may depend on budget.
