4. Remove the battery pack by following these steps:
a. Turn the computer upside down with the front panel

How to Reset BIOS Password?

There are two passwords in BIOS. One is start up password, the other isBIOS setting password. If you have forgotten the start up password thatmeans you cannot open computer at all. Then the first method is theonly thing you can do. Other methods can use to clear setting password.
==①:Motherboard Battery Discharge==
The common way toreset start up password is discharge Motherboard Battery. Most of thecurrent motherboard BIOS is using the button batteries to provideelectric power.That means if there is no electricity, the informationit contains will be lost. When it’s on power again, BIOS will set backto its original state, of course, there will be no BIOS passwords. Butyou will lose your setting at the same time.
What we need to dois to power off computer, open the computer box, and then unplug thepower plug of the computer to make sure that it is no electricity atall. Then locate the white silver button battery on the motherboard.Remove the battery carefully. Perhaps 30 seconds later, put back thebattery.
After put back the computer box then power on, thesystem will prompt “CMOS Checksum Error-Defaults Loaded”. That meansCMOS errors detected during inspections, had been included in thesystem default, BIOS password cracking success!
On somemotherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making itdifficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative.Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clearthe BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you willknow where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on themotherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to bethe case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper.This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannotlocate this jumper, you might short both of the points where thebattery connects to the motherboard.
==② : Backdoor BIOS Password==
Eachmotherboard manufacturer has set a backdoor password in order tofacilitate the provision of technical support. The backdoor password isa BIOS password that works, no matter what the user sets the BIOSpassword to. These passwords are typically used for testing andmaintenance. Manufacturers typically change the backdoor BIOS passwordsfrom time to time.

I forgot administrator password. how do i restore to factory settings on a compaq?

If we are talking about Windows passwords You can restore from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) CD.
You can also obtain a program that will reset your password from outside Windows. I have one and have used it successfully several times.
If you need a password to access HP's boot process or BIOS then you may be able to get a program that will do this also or find a "backdoor" password for access. It seems many manufacturers created a backdoor password for just such a situation. If it is your BIOS that you need a password for start with obvious passwords like "backdoor", "password", "doowssap"(password spelt backwards) and anything else you can think of.

Power-on password forgotten! How can the computer be started?

The Power on Password is set from the BIOS configuration. Ask that person who borrowed your Compaq for the password. Once you have this password, you can enter the BIOS configuration and remove/disable this password.
Depending how old you Compaq is, removing the BIOS battery and main battery for 15+ mins may remove this password and restore the BIOS to the factory default (insert both batteries again) and configure the BIOS Date and Time etc.
BUT if the the password is stored on an EEPROM chip then removing will not fix this problem. There are no backdoor passwords available.

HP530 bios resetting

The only way to clear the password in BIOS is to open the cover and take out the battery on the motherboard. It is not hard to find on the motherboard, it looks like a watch battery. Take it out, wait about 5 mintues. then put it back in and boot. That will clear the BIOS password.

Bios Password

Backdoor passwords

Many BIOS manufacturers have provided backdoor passwords that can be used to access the BIOS setup in the event you have lost your password. These passwords are case sensitive, so you may wish to try a variety of combinations. Keep in mind that the key associated to "_" in the US keyboard corresponds to "?" in some European keyboards. Laptops typically have better BIOS security than desktop systems, and I a not aware of any backdoor passwords that will work with name brand laptops.

WARNING: Some BIOS configurations will lock you out of the system completely if you type in an incorrect password more than 3 times. Read your manufacturers documentation for the BIOS setting before you begin typing in passwords
