Not sure what you are trying to open. There is a slide out catch tray for cleaning crumbs. There is no information in the booklet that suggests a need or a way to open the toaster.

Perhpas reviewing the booklet will answer your question.

Toaster latch does not stay down on Cusinart CPT-120 compact two slice toaster

for Cuisinart cpt160: If the latch will not stay down it is because the electromagnet at the base of the toaster, which is supposed to activate when you push the handle down, is burnt out. I pulled my toaster apart and did a test of that mechanism and found that the solenoid was fried (open circuit). There are no replacement parts.

The left side slots will not lock in the down position to cook the toast what can I do?

There may be a broken wire inside on that side of the toaster as if all power were out, neither would lock in the down position...

When I depress the carriage control levers they do

my toaster did this once, i suggest that you get a new toaster from a different company, because if you've only had the toaster a month
and its doing this already that's a crappy toaster

My cuisinart cpt 160 toaster won't start

Do any of the lights come on ?

If not then have you checked the plug top fuse

If the lights come on and then when you press the lever down it does not latch a solenoid has gone open circuit

Good toasters can be fixed

Cheap ones go in the trash bin

Only toasts part of bread

The solution I got from the FixYa team was: "Get a new toaster." Which is how I ended up with 4 new toasters that don't work. I'm glad I didn't PAY for THAT answer.

When i push the lever down to make toast, it does not stay

This is a problem, our old toaster had this problem, and it would only work if we jammed the handle down, but don't try this, only because ours broke after we tried this, but if you can send it to the manufacturure, they should be able to fix this. If you don't what to do this, please phone me at 505 9181, but please call me from 8:00-10:00, 2:30-8:00.
