Hi

When you were working on the camera you shorted it out and blew the fuse. Not trying to be rude, but this is why I recommend people find an affordable repair business and allow them to do the repair for them.

You can solder a new fuse on the board, you can piggyback a new fuse on top of the old one, or you can remove the fuse and bridge it with solder so there is no fuse (not recommended).

If you need help feel free to let us know, we can do the repair for you or get you the parts you need.

Thanks

I crushed the screen of my Canon Powershot SD450 camera. Pls. estimate cost of screen repair. Is it on the screen thats cracked cozi can still take photos but cant see them.

Many screen breaks happen to ruin the LCD from visibly displaying a picture. On some cameras, the screen is attached to the back plate of the camera and are very easy to replace with a new one. Some screens are attached to a video pc board and may ruin the board from displaying anything. Your best bet is to have it repaired professionally by one of our top repair providers and get an estimate first. I have repaired many good digital cameras with a LCD replacement, but I also had to purchase a broken used one for parts because new parts became to expensive to repair the one with a broken LCD. BTW: all digital cameras contain many PC boards and if you can still take pictures means the boards that control your lens, motors, CCD, and I/O boards are still intact and functional. Hope this helps - fotobean

I replaced my LCD Screen on my Canon SD450. The camera would start up, but the screen wouldn't show properly, now the camera won't power up at all. The power cable for the screen is bent from trying to get...

might have broken/shorted a trace in the ribbon cable that supplies the LCD with data, use a continuity tester on all traces to see if you have an open or short. Use the alligator clips of a multimeter to grab 2 sewing pins to use as probes as the traces are very small.

SD450 lcd went black

Please see the following post, and look for the SD400 LCD repair link. Click on the pictures of that site for larger pics. Follow the disassembly instructions, but skip the lengthy LCD removal portion. Instead just look for the LCD connector as shown on the front of the camera. Unseat the cable from the connector as shown by lifting the connector gate, BUT DO NOT unthread the cable through the camera. Merely examine its ends, and if it looks dirty gently clean it with a drop of alcohol on a Qtip. Give it some time to dry, and then reseat it back into its connector, close the connector gate, reassemble the camera and try it out.

Make sure you also read the following Flash Capacitor Shock Warning post on the above blog site before proceeding.

Good Luck and hope it works. If it doesn't the next step would be to check out the electrical wire power connection to the back light.

Dropped my camera canon sd450

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but they're worth a try:

Camera will not power up

I had the same experience after drying out my elph sd450. I sprayed contact cleaner into the battery cavity and reinserted the battery. The camera came back to life as if by magic. If you buy a contact cleaner, test it on something to make sure it doesn't melt the plastic. I would suggest puting some contact cleaner on a q-tip and wiping the contacts on both the camera side and the battery. I sill notice that the camera balks sometimes upon re-insertion of the battery, so I do the contact wipe again, and it seems to do the job.

The website name is: Darntoothysam com then search by "SD450"
