Could be that the filter stone in the gas tank is stopped up. You may try putting a new one on the line. It could also be a crack in the primer bulb not allowing it to force the gas up.

SOURCE: weed eater featherlite primer bulb won't fill with

Hello

From your Description and Depending on the OEM (Zama or Walbro) of the Carburetor it Sounds like a Bad Fuel Filter or the Primer Check Valve has Stuck and the Carburetor Requires Soaking and Cleaning.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://www.poulanpro.com/poulanpro/indexAction.do?id=default and Select Order Parts and Accessories. On this Page Select Illustrated Parts List from the Menu on the Left. Now Select the Manufacturer (Poulan/Weed Eater) and Enter the Model Numbers in the Boxes at the Lower Left of the Page.
I Require the OEM (Walbro, Zama, ect) and the Model Numbers Off the Carburetor. With these I can Locate a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Better Assist you.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

SOURCE: need diagram on fuel lines on a 26 cc craftsman weed eater

The longest, and sometimes smaller in diameter of the two fuel lines, goes from the carburetor to the bottom of the tank. Leave enough slack in this line so that the filter that attaches to the end will rest comfortably at the bottom of the tank.

The other fuel line goes from the primer bulb to just inside the tank, (about an inch). make sure that you get the right size fuel lines. The plastic coupling goes on the end of this line, inside the tank. This keeps the line from pulling out of the tank.

(HINT): When feeding the lines through the tank holes, cut the lines at an angle. They will feed much easier into the holes. You can than cut them off square, once you know that you have enough to work with.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

My troy bilt weed eater won't prime, nor is the primer bulb filling up with fuel.

It sounds like the bulb is not sealed properly. That may also explain why it shut off after 20 secs. (sucking air and not getting enough gas). Fuel line or carb may be cracked or clogged. Or you may have accidentally reversed the fuel lines. Since it worked fine before you removed it, the problem most likely lies with the bulb, its gasket, its fuel line connections or the one-way valve beneath the bulb.
Good luck

If it's the one that comes 'out' of the primer bulb it is the return line that goes in the fuel tank.

Repair weed eater

If you see gas in the primer bulb it is pulling in gas to the bulb. If not check for cracks in the bulb assembly and check to see if the fuel lines are not off their fittings and not cracked.

Took tank off weed eater and not sure how the lines go back on

The line with the fuel filter in the end comes out of the tank and it goes to the bottom fitting on the carburator. The other line comes out of the tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the primer bulb, and the third section goes from the top fitting on primer bulb to top fitting on carburator. Got it? lol Hope this helped and best wishes.
