I have a Hobart CL44e that today will not get to temp (180 and above). The high limit and temp control appear to be ok. Any idea what to check next?

SOURCE: engine lurches-check engine light comes on. loss

First check the Throttle position sensor. Using a multimeter set it to read resistance. The connectors must be disconnected from the TPS. Probe the middle pin and one of the pins, and as you slowly open the throttle by hand the resistance should start changing smoothly. Then keep the probe in the middle pin, and do the same on the other pin. Do this this carefullt because it is easy to get a false reading. Do not buy a new TPS unless you are sure because they are expensive and usually not returnable. Thats why it is important to do the test carefully.

SOURCE: Temp runs only 180 degrees. High temp thermostat

yes thermostats wear out. make sure your cooling fans are not running at the low temp you have. you may have a bad temp sending unit. also you gauge send ing unit could be bad.

Suggestion: see if the blend door opens or closes completely to allow all air through the heater core. To see the blend door moving, remove the panel that says "Cut here for service" under the hood along the firewall. I have a 99 Bravada where the blend door keeps moving back and forth constantly. Changed the blend door actuator but still keeps moving. The air inside is only warm since the door keeps allowing bypassed air through.

Hobart am 14 electric heat does not turn on water temp just drops

Assuming that the machine fill cycle works properly and the float is intact, and the heater contactor doesnt pull in:
possible heater contactor malfunction: check for power to coil
High limit snap thermostat may be tripped or damaged ( needs to be manually reset). located in heater connection cover.
Thermistor probe and or wiring to it may be damaged
main control board may not be functioning properly. check output to heater curcuit

Lx30h hobart dw. booster will not turn on. element good,hi-limit is good, changed temp probe, still no power to contactor

The booster heat control circuit is controlled by the relay board. Visually check for loose or burnt relay contacts...
You will see the booster LED light when it calls for heat. Some newer machines have a second high limit on the right hand side of the booster tank.
It may be your control board is configured for low temp with no booster. When you power up, the display should say LX30H. If not
Pull open the upper drawer, place a magnet over the door interlock switch.

CAUTION, 220 volt power is present. be carefull what you touch.

on control board, short J5-1 and J5-2, then power up. You are in factory setup. press select on the control board to see each option on the front panel., press up arrow on control board to step up through options for each step. when done, press the off button on front panel. remove short and start up normally. With the magnet in place, AND THE DOOR CLOSED, run the machine and observe the relay board status lights.
If you want to adjust the temp set points, with the machine off, press and hold the hidden key behind the front panel logo, and press select on the control board.. Or on power up, hold the wask key..Same to adjust options as above. Press off to exit.
