How can I update maps on my tomtom when I lost my bar code and receipt it is only 5 mths old

You do not need the barcode or receipt to register and update a tomtom.
Connect to a PC and download 'my drive connect' from the tomtom website.
Register the device with you name and email address and follow on screen instructions to update.

Cant get updates

1) Format the Memory Card via Windows
2) Remove Card/Device from Computer
3) Plug Device/Card into Computer
4) Open up TOMTOM Home
5) It most likely will not recognise the Card/Device as a TOMTOM but will update it to a previous firmware. Keep following On-Screen prompts until fully updated.
6) Unplug your Card/Device, turn on and enjoy :)

Hope this helps!

I have formated my tomtom one and know it will not start with out showing a flashing disk and a x

Probably the last update was not applied correctly or it was corrupted.
Please, try this:
1) Place the GPS on the cradle connected to the computer and start TomTom Home.
2) Turn the GPS on and connect it to the computer.
3) Erase the downloaded software (using the "remove items" from the TomTom home software)
4) Choose "disconenct device" from the drop down menu of TomTom2_bing.gif Home
after the GPS powers down and restarts, press the RESET button on the button (keep it pressed for 7 seconds)
5) Repeat setps 1-2 from above. When TomTom Home detects your GPS, it will offer to update it. If it doesn't, choose "update device" from the TomTom Home buttons

Product codes for go 630- no maps

You need to contact either the place you bought the device or TomTom... probably the place you bought the device because they gave you a defective one. It should already have a map on it and it should ask you to "update" it when you login to TomTom home.

TomTom 920 GPS Activation code

Unless your TomTom device comes with a "life-time" map, you need (to pay for a map update and) get an activation code everytime to wish to install a new/revised map on your device. You can subscribe to a year of update (i.e. 4 maps updates for the year) and you should be able to update the maps (4 times) after you enter the activation code (once you've paid for the map subscription).

Go to My Computer, then the TomTom drive and click explore. Move your Map folder to the desktop. Then, delete everything on the tomtom drive. Unplug it, plug it back in, and start up Tomtom HOME and install all updates, keep unplugging, plugging back in, and installing updates until there aren't any more updates.
