SOURCE: Reloading Firmware on Zen Sleek Photo
This is what I found. Windows Media Player 11 messes it up. All you have to do is uninstall anything Windows Media Player 11 and then run the firmware upgrader. It's some sort of but. You can reinstall WMP when your done installing the firmware. I found it on the creative forum.

Try using windows media player. it should show up right when you plug it in. if this doesnt work, go to MY COMPUTER then go into the USB port you plugged the wp3 into and add music and stuff. or try right clicking the USB port and saying "open with..." and then "Windows Media Player"

I had the same problem this morning, albeit with my 8G Clip. Nothing worked -- the thing seemed dead as roadkill -- until I found a link about "forcing MSC mode." Basically, it told me to hold down the center button while plugging my Clip into my computer using my USB cable. Suddenly, boom! It's awake and alive and happy again. I'm unsure how that works, but that did it for me.

Make sure the speakers are plugged into the GREEN connector in the tower at the back of the unit on the motherboard.
