I have just bought a Shark DuoClean Lift-Away NV700UK. When I use it the headlights flash and stop when I return it to the upright position. Is this supposed to happen or should I take it back?

Sounds like you should do two things: 1- Remove and clean the beater brush of all debris as best you can. At the end of the brush you will see a hard rubber piece, at both ends, that holds it in place in the body of the vacuum. Add some WD40 between the brush and these pieces and turn until they move freely. 2- When you reassemble, put a new belt on.

I have the shark rotator lift away almost new, only used a few times, i inspected the small blk belt it is still tight, everything else seems good, brush is new why wont the brush spin ?

Does everyone understand there is switch or button that controls the rotating brush? Brushes stop spinning automatically when vacuum cleaner is in the UPRIGHT POSITION.
Because now you should be using the hose and attachments

If you've gotten 4 years out of a Shark you've already beat the system. Give yourself a pat on the back, throw it in the nearest dumpster, then go to your local vac shop and purchase a quality USA made vacuum cleaner that is repairable and will likely last 20-30 years. Chinese vacs are designed to last one year and parts are not made for Sharks.

Shark Lift Away vacuum attachment stuck

Reconnect the hose to the main unit, same as when putting back in to upright mode I.e. click the hose back to the main unit and then pull the attachment and it should easily come off
