In the outer rear seats, you may use either the ISOFIX attachments or the seat belt. In the center rear seating position, you may only use the seat belt.

Carefully read the instructions for your child seat and the vehicle manual. They will give you directions to install your child seat properly.

Lock and unlock Ford Seatbelts when using a baby car seat

When putting a car seat into any Ford vehicle you can ensure that your child is securely fastened by simply pulling the seatbelt all the way out to it's limit of travel. Then allow the seat belt to retract automatically to a snug fit over the car seat hooks. You will notice as it retracts that it makes a clicking sound. This ratcheting action when manually activated this way will lock the seat belt firmly into the baby's safety seat providing asecure restraint. It's so easy to do and it could save a childs life!

I have a 2003 2 door sunfire. I am installing a infant car seat base using the latch system instead of the seat belt. Can I do this in the middle of the back seat or does it have to go at one of the...

Ideally if there is a middle set of latches in the seat, you can install an infant car seat base there. If the seat has any kind of hump or other irregularity then it should not be installed there. Although the middle of the back seat is safest for a child, most vehicle do not have a latch system there. However most cars do have a lap belt for the center seat and that should be used if you decide to place your car seat.

Do not use the latches from either side of the right back and left seat. The latch system is designed to be a specific distance apart to work correctly. If you don' want to use the lap belt then you should put the child seat on either the left or right back seat using the latch system.

1995 Honda Accord Car seat install problem

I can't be of much help, except to indicate what Honda says about the seats, and to give you a URL to look at:
Using a Seat Belt Locking Clip
Always use a seat belt locking clip when you secure a child seat to your car with a lap/shoulder belt. This helps prevent the seat from shifting position or overturning. A locking clip is usually included with the child seat. If you need a clip, contact the seat's manufacturer or a store that sells child restraints.
The URL will take you to a more complete reference to your car manual regarding child restraints.

My Buick Regal 98 back seat belt (passenger side) is stuck. Is moving a little bit but that's all, can not use it to restrain a passenger. What should I do? How to take out the original seat belt box? It's...

Is the belt twisted? If you pull it all the way out it will engage the child lock. If the child lock is engaged and the belt is twisted, you have to try to feed the belt back in far enough to disable the child lock

How do we fix front passenger side seat belt retractor on 1999 Ford Taurus? It will not pull out....

you may have to remove the bolt that holds the buckle to the floor. Try to push the belt into the retractor and see if it frees up.

I assume you are saying it is in the locked mode. It has an automatic lock mode for holding a child seat. When the belt is pulled all the way out, it goes into locking mode. You will hear it ratchet when the belt starts going back in.

Section 01-20A: Restraints, Active 1999 Taurus, Sable Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Safety Belt, Lap/Shoulder The dual locking mode retractor on the shoulder belt portion of the combination lap/shoulder safety belt for the front seat passenger and rear seat outboard passengers operates in two ways:
  1. In the vehicle sensitive (emergency locking) mode, the shoulder belt retractor will allow the occupant freedom of movement, locking tight only on hard braking, hard cornering or impacts of approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more. The front and rear outboard seat belt retractors can also be made to lock by pulling/jerking on the belt.
  1. In the automatic locking mode, the shoulder belt retractor will be automatically locked and remain locked when the combination lap/shoulder safety belt is buckled and does not allow the occupant freedom of movement. This mode provides tight lap/shoulder belt fit on the occupant and on a child safety seat or infant carrier installation restraint.
  1. When the combination lap/shoulder belt is unbuckled and allowed to retract completely, the retractor will switch to the vehicle sensitive (emergency) locking mode.
sxh~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif WARNING: REAR-FACING INFANT SEATS SHOULD NEVER BE PLACED IN THE FRONT SEATS.
The automatic locking mode must be used when installing a child safety seat on the front passenger seat and rear outboard seats where dual locking retractors are provided

Retractable seat belt wont close

Is this a NEW seat belt?  Or a junkyard part... Per the Toyota 1988 Repair Manual - the belt is allowed to be pulled out at a tile of 15 degrees or less; and cannot be pulled out at over 45 degrees of tilt.

Your problem is the belt is not retracting.  The manual states to replace the assembly.  It also states: "Whenver installing a new belt assembly, verify proper operation before installation."

If a new part does not have proper operation; have it replaced. If this is a 'used'  new part - get a NEW seat belt.

LATCH Attached?

The latch can be used in the rear facing position.

On mine there was a screw which secured the nylon to the seat.

You need to remove the screw and remove the LATCH belt.

The LATCH belt must then be threaded through the belt location under the child's seat, rather than behind.

Pay attention if there are any arrows on your LATCH belt which point up, so that you thread the belt the right way. Remember that the seat is going to be rear facing! : )

On the side of my seat it shows a picture with the LATCH in use, threaded underneath the child's seat. Maybe your shows this too.

Hope this works for you!
