How do I know if my a1620n desktop needs an adapter so I can connect WiFi?

This desktop does not come with a Wifi Card installed. You would need to buy a USB Wifi Adapter for you to be able to connect to a Wifi Network.

Fujitsu amilo notebook pa 3553 wireless on/off for windows 7

If your Fn+F1 isn't working you need to go onto the Fujitsu website and have a hunt around for the downloads and support section and download the HotKey Launcher application (I think someone else may have linked to it)

Some people have been suffering with pressing Fn+F1 turning the WiFi on and clicking the tick...but still having no WiFi connection come up. If this is the case ensure the Radio is enabled:

Click the WiFi indicator in the system tray and click "Open Network and Sharing Center" > "Change adapter settings" > Right-Click your WiFi adapter "Wireless Network Connection"? > Properties > Advanced > Radio On/Off > Enabled.

If you couldn't find your WiFi adapter to right-click then you need to download Drivers for your WiFi adapter and ensure they are up to date (saying this, windows automatically uses RaLink drivers nowadays)

I believe you just need to reinstall the driver for your Wifi adapter.
Here's the link where you can download the driver for your wifi adapter Click Here. Just click the Download Drivers and Software on the left side and then you will have options if you want to have the website to auto detect your system or just browse for a specific product.
