When you installed the new needle, did you push it up as far as it would go before tightening? Is it installed with the flat part facing the correct direction? Also, is it the correct type needle for your machine? Is the new needle larger than a 75 (the smaller needle's eyes are too small for a threader)? Is the eye facing perfectly straight forward? Is the needle bar as high as it will go in the machine?
Install a brand new needle. If that doesn't help, the machine is most likely out of time--the needle is arriving at the bobbin at the wrong time to intercept the bobbin thread. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.
Copy down the brand and model of the turntable and go to your local stereo shop. Radio Shack used to carry these, too - but I don't know if they do anymore. Sometimes the cartridge needs to be replaces as well. That will be the rectangular piece the needle is inserted to on the underside of the tone arm. If your see a name and number on it - write it down. The needle can be easy to replace - the cartridge however is a little more involved.
Belt is easy, Just remove the base, and change the belt.
Needle change is done by cartridge change. remove the old cartridge and insert the new one with the new needle.
If you remove the lid off the player, the arm then swings all the way backwards and allows you ample viewing for needle replacement when turned upside down.
If the leak is: 1. in the fuel line it should be replaced. new lines with hose clamps. 2. If leak is from the carborator, the float may be stuck. Remove and inspect the float, being careful not to alter adjustments. Clean bowl with carb cleaner and replace. Be careful of the gasket installation. 3. The needle valve may need replacement. Check the tip for wear.
Alot of times somethig was in the tank and reached the needle and cleaning will solve the problem.
