SOURCE: HP 3 button wireless optical mouse

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it. This should connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly. If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the button on the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud

I had the same problem.
Press the button on the underside of the USB, the green light will flash. Now press the reset button on the underside of the mouse. Your mouse should now work.

SOURCE: I just bought my mouse

Sometimes if you have the optical mouse on Black pads, that can be a problem. Sounds as you have the battery in right, Have you tried rolling the wheel, to make sure it isn't out of sight? Now if you had to install software for the mouse. Take out the receiver, (USB part) then uninstall the software. Then restart your computer, then if you have the software, run it, I wouldn't put the USB part in until it tells you to, then leave it , you may also want to try a different USB port this time. Reinstall follow directions, it should work. Hope this will help you,

When you change the left mouse pointer to be the right mouse pointer in the settings of the mouse, then if the right mouse button stops working, it is a software problem and reinstalling drivers is the way to go. If on the otherhand the left mouse button still does not respond, then there is a problem with the switch in the mouse. This is hardware related. Either clean the mouse or buy a new one.

I have a new iHome Optical travel mouse on my laptop. I can't get it to work.

Did you put in new batteries.

Did you try a different USB port.

Did you go to start button, control panel, windows update, run windows update, if it needs a driver, win update might find it.

Usually windows will use a generic driver for any usb mouse and as soon as you plug it in windows see's it.

It should have come with a disk, maybe there is a driver on it, but rare windows can't find it.

If you try these things and noting, its the mouse, contact the seller or the MFG and ask them for help, send email.
