I have a Yamaha Rx-v765 receiver. I've hooked up surround sound in the inside and all of that works great.

During renovation I have run a speaker line from the receiver to the back of the house and there I added a volume control knob with 2 outside speakers.I installed the additional wire to Zone 2 of the receiver. When I play zone 2 only one speaker works, does a sound volume control only support one speaker

The connections should tell you that. If it has sockets for two sets of speakers and two inputs for the sound then it will be a stereo model.
What you can do to test the system is to disconnect the speaker connections to the receiver and use a 1.5 volt battery connected across each speaker cable end. For only a brief time. At the other end you should hear the speaker pop. I suspect you will need two people to do this. Make certain the volume control unit is on full.
If you don't hear the sound of the pop the cable is either faulty or disconnected somewhere.

make sure you have not wired from box to speaker then to another speaker ,you should wire from switch box to one speaker then from box to another speaker, this presents the right load to the amp, if you have done this you may have a faulty switch box.

hope this helps.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V757 Receiver

i thinck that you have internal short circuit in wiring of zone 2. and you must fix this wiring first befor you go ahead -or you disable it by disconnecting it-and the rest of the system will work fine.

SOURCE: How do I connect my outside speakers to play?

The onkyo should still have a speaker A/B selector in the menu.
Check on the back panel for speaker A/B.
If it has or you decide to use Zone 2 you will need to set the sound programme to "stereo" so the rears and centre do not work.
You can still use a digital source.
You should be able to display the amp's menu on the screen.
Hook up "monitor out" (Yellow) via RCA connector to one of the "A/V inputs" (yellow) on the tv, this will show you a display of the menu and will make it eaiser to navigate.

SOURCE: RX-V665 Yamaha reciever has been working great.

You may find a solution by doing some of the things I have tried - see below

I recently puchased this model to replace an older Yamaha system that also had this shut-off problem. The new RX665 system has the same problem but I check the impedance setting using the instruction in the manaul anyway. The problem persists. I have check all speaker wire to make sure nothing was touching. I did find one wire touching on the center speaker but the problem persist.

Since the problem followed me when I moved and with a new amp, I am beginning to think I am have a speaker that's causing this - maybe the sub.

Any Tape Out (REC) is flat Line Level output for any analog source selected by the RX-V1000.

Or you could just set up Zone 2 as on Page 61 in the manual - with or without the remote capability.

You have two speaker switch overs- A & B. if either one is not connected you can use this for the external speakerr connecting the right and left identically using good quality speaker wires. howeverr do not use more the 10 meters( recommended 5 meters). otherwise you will need to ahve an external switch( 2pole two way) for the surround speakers to switch over in place of the swimming pool, connected in the same polarity and phase.(Positve and negative). I have an RX-V663 audio sounds flat

Let's deal with the turntable sound first - unless it's a self-preamplified model you would have to get an external phono-specific preamp to use with this receiver. Without one you'll get microscopically weak, tinny sound from the turntable. Google "RIAA curve" to see why.

As far as the CD sound through the Blu Ray player... for one thing it is flat, as in two-dimensional stereo. Compared to genuine surround from a movie it would be a letdown.

Can you better define 'flat'?

I would like to know how to connect my Bose 901 to my Yamaha RX-V765 AV Receiver.

Ahhh, the good ole Bose 901. (I like those)... And you want to connect them to the Yamaha RX-V765 AV receiver. That should be a piece of cake. I assume you only have two Bose 901 cabinets. If so, you simply need to connect one end of your speaker wires to the terminals found on the 901 cabinets, and the other end of the speaker wires need to go to the Front Left and Front Right speaker outputs of the RX-V765. The RX-V765 is a 7 channel surround receiver. Weather you run it as a 7 channel theatre or as a more classic 2 speaker configuration, you will want to run the 901 cabs from the Front L and Front R speaker outputs, unless for some reason you want to specifically use them for any of the surround channels in which case it will not harm anything if you use them for surrounds - it's just that if you're simply wanting to use them as your principal speakers, you want Front L and Front R.
So connect them as I explained, power the receiver up, put on your favorite CD and enjoy!

this sounds strange, but is true. you need to run your digital audio optical cable from your tv to your receiver (after, of course, connecting tv/receiver via hdmi). so, hdmi from blue ray to rec - hdmi from rec to tv - then optical from tv back to rec. it's round about, but that is how yamaha says (and the only way it works) to do it.

Yamaha reciever rx-v363

Thats because if you look in the owner's manual, it declares the fact that it will only broadcast sound from hdmi to monitor not speakers. For sound out of speakers need to connect additional audio cable.
