* Check your warranty. Call for support.

*** Following is for information only.***
* Brand and model for specific solution.
* It's probably stuck in error mode. Looking for ink, cartridge level, ID of ink cartridge, communications issues, etc.
* Open your printer control panel on computer to monitor status.
* Stand alone wireless printers will cycle through it's checks and flash ready or error report (by flashing certain lights) you will need to check paperwork for error report.
* Note that with new models(especially cheap units) They tend to take a Long time to process prints and print out. Many render the document to a printer format then print. Copies have to render for each copy.
* I find it faster to render and print one original. Then use the printer's "scan" and "copy" mode as it will not use the render process. Scanning is faster and only done once per "Batch".

HP Color LaserJet PRO M177fw stuck in initialization.

Seems the wifi controller in the printer is fried. This worked for me.
Power on
Press Home button repeatedly while the unit is powering up.
When the menu appears hit these items quickly
1. Wireless Menu Icon (wifi icon)
2. Wireless Menu Button
3. Turn Wireless On/Off Button
4. Off Button

You have about 2.5 seconds to do this so it likely will take a few tries. When you have successfully disabled the wifi, the printer menues will work and the initializing sequence will finally complete.

You will have to hardwire the printer to an ethernet network or use some sort of wifi to ethernet adapter if you want to print over the network but the printer still works.

How to reset printer setting

Turn off the HP LaserJet 2840.

Press and hold down the "Enter" and "*" keys on the printer's control panel, and turn the printer back on.

Hold the "Enter" and "*" keys until you see the "Permanent Storage Init" message on the device control panel. Release the two keys to perform the NVRAM initialization. The NVRAM initialization takes just a few seconds, and the "Permanent Storage Init" message remains on the printer's display until the initialization is complete.

Ensure that the "Ready" message on the printer's control panel is visible. You can now connect the printer to your computer and print your documents. If the "Ready" message is not displayed and your printer is still stuck in a loop, turn off the printer and contact HP customer support (see Resources).

  • To reset an HP 2840 from your computer, open the HP Toolbox program, click "Device Settings," click "Service," click "Restore" in the Resets section and then click "OK" to confirm the action and restore the printer to its factory defaults.

Will not do anything stuck on initializing!

Try a NVRAM initialization. Turn the printer off and before turning it back on hold down the right arrow and cancel buttons together while the device is powered back on.

HP color LaserJet 2600n stucked on Initialzing

Well we can check and see if the printer is able to run an engine test. This is how you can run this test;
  1. Turn the printer around so the back of the machine is facing you.
  2. Remove the Engine etest button acess door. This is located in the bottom center of the back.
  3. Push the botton once while the printer is on. The printer should print a page with colored horizontal lines.
If the printer is able to print this page there is a very good indication the problem revolves around the PCA formatter board.
The Firmware might be outdated and causing this problem. Worst case scenario the board might be faulty, in that case your better off buying a new machine, since the cost to replace the board will be higher than that to replace this machine.
