Bring it back into the house (unless you have your software on a laptop) Plug it into the computer with the cable they gave you, then go to Tom Tom's website and follow the instructions for a reset.
Sometimes just plugging it into the computer will automatically reload the software menu.
To change the voice being used by your TomTom ONE, XL, and XXL, tap Voices in the Preferences menu, then tap Change voice. Select a voice from the list.

all sound files speak out the street names. Procedure to get the street names spoken: Tap
on main screen. Tap on options. Tap on voices and images. Tap select a voice. Tap Susan, English US, Speaks Street Names. Tap select. Tap continue till you reach the main screen.
Not all sound files speak out the street names. If you would like to have the street names spoken, you need to select a voice that ends with computer. For example, the voice file selection: Simon, English UK, Computer will speak street names. But the voice file, Bonnie, English US, will not speak Street names. Dave, English US, computer will give you street names but Lori or Mandy, English US will not.Procedure to get the street names spoken: Tap on main screen. Tap on change preferences. Tap on arrow. Tap on change voices. Tap (select) a voice that ends with computer. Tap select. Tap done till you reach the main screen.
Tap on the screen to bring the Main menu up -> Select 'Change Preference' - Tap Right scroll 'Bold Pointer' -> Change voice -> Select required Voice that is not Greyed out - > Test -> Select
(if you do not have a desired 'Voice', you can download some free ones to your GPS unit while connected to 'Tom Tom Home' facility and the internet.

It will only tell you the names of the streets if you use the COMPUTER voice. The other voices will not announce street names. So go to your voice selection and pick the computer voice...either male or female.
