check power switch if not block and i good position. and also monitor by multitester if the continuity of that switch cut in off position.

The display itself may not be the problem which may be related to the power supply for it instead.

No need to worry, you can buy adjustable knobs and at radioshack and ebay. However if the button broke off you need to go in and replace it.

Unfortunately, Proton discontinued these a very long time ago. There is not very much information available about them. The cause for the radio malfunction could be a number of things. One possibility is the switches. There is a foam gasket around the switches that degrades over time. If pieces of it get stuck inside the on switch, or lock the off switch, it would prevent the radio from working. You could try taking it apart and use a can of compressed air to clean out the switches. I had a problem with the radio turning on all by itself and the compressed air cleaning solved it.

when you set the alarm it is activating by itself ...see that you have the button that will set it to go to radio or buzzing noise..and in the back it has a knob for a separate volume on the alarm I think this is what you have lower and the alarm is not heard even if it kicks in ..
