Sony SLV-D350P DVD/Video cassette Player

I have mislaid my manual and need instructions of how to tape from the TV onto a video cassette. I have searched your manual page on the internet but cannot find the manual to this particular product.

I have the manual. Are you trying to record something live? if so:

1) Turn on both the DVD/VCR and your TV.
2) Switch the input selector on your TV so that the signal from the player appears on the TV screen (this is usually something like 'input 1' or 'line 1' and so forth)
3) On your remote, set TV/DVD-VIDEO to DVD-Video, then press SELECT VIDEO to control the VCR. These buttons are at the upper left hand corner of the remote controller.
4) To record from a cable box, turn it on.
5) make sure the tape is longer than the total recording time.
6) insert a tape into the VCR.
7) press CH +/- on the remote to select the channel or line input video source to record.
8) select the tape speed SP/EP (SP provides better quality, EP provides three times the recording time as SP)
9) Press the record button to start recording. The VCR display will display the message REC.

Hi, As long as you have the picture it means that DVD's Laser Eye is Ok.. Pls Check your connections to make sure the audio and video cables of both VCR and DVD are properly hooked up to the television. Color coded cables should be matched with the jacks of equal color. Yellow corresponds to video while red and white are both audio.

Ensure the DVD is in standby mode if you are not getting picture from the VCR. The DVD cannot be running at the same time as the VCR is playing when you want to see the VCR picture.

Connections with combo units are often inconvenient, forcing you to use separate video hookups for each section (DVD, VCR), a problem for older TVs. This player has it figured out: a single RF or composite-video connection to a television will display either the DVD or the VCR signal, depending on which format you're viewing. If you want to view DVDs in S-video or in component-video (either interlaced or progressive-scan), you will need to use two inputs. though: any component- or S-video-equipped TV will offer sufficient inputs for both of the SLV-D350P's formats.
It's a different arrangement for audio: you can listen through a single set of stereo analog-audio cables for each component or--if you want to enjoy DVDs in discrete 5.1-channel surround sound--you can send the DVD's audio to a compatible audio/video receiver and a multichannel speaker system through a digital-audio interconnect (either optical or coaxial,). The unit also comes with an RF cable that will transmit DVD/VHS audio and video to your TV.
In conclusion,for a best tech solution I prpose you to connect DVD audio directly to your Stereo and listen as separate audio source.while Video goes to TV as usual. Tape loaded normally but now won't eject. The unit just powers off after a few seconds.

Unplug the power from the combo unit and give it 30 seconds, now plug back in, sometimes this will eject the tape, if not! take the top off the machine and check to see if the tape is spewed in the mechanical section and around the video head, if yes! get a pair of scissors and cut the tape carefully to avoid damaging the video head and remove all tape deb-ri, now power up and eject the main cassette. But! if you find the cassette has loaded in place and the tape is still in the vhs cassette, this would indicate a loading problem with the main carriage, broken belt, bad idler assembly and possibly sensor issues.

DVDs on my Sony SLV-D350P DVD/VHS player play in black and white

First try a good quality dvd cleaner. If that does not cure the problem then the video cable may have went bad. I had a system that the cables were never touched & after a few years it needed replaced in order to get my picture back. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks.
