I have a proform 550e, starts up fine runs well for a few minutes, then belt stops. Motor keeps running. I step off the belt, belt starts to run again.

Works again for a few minutes then the belt stops again. I turn off the treadmill, the problem corrects itself but only for a couple of minutes then the belt stops again.

Check adjust belt tension
may have to clean under belt area as there could be a build up that is stopping the free movement of the belt as it gets hot

Have you tried to calibrate the speed. If not you might want to try it and see if it will help you with your issue.

SOURCE: Proform 515s treadmill motor won't start

If the colse buttons make a chirping noise when you push them the console should be Ok. If there is no chirping noise with the push it is a bad console. If everything but the speed works it will probably be your motor controller that is bad.

SOURCE: My Proform 650v treadmill stop when running after couple of miles

Most likely a bad drive belt. Take the cover off the motor area. If you see black dust near the left side of the motor, replace the drive belt.

Treadmill starts out fine, then stops after a few minutes under load - goes right back up to speed as soon as I step off the belt.his is an "iFit. com EKG2v"

The machine is struggling under load, it’s either a really badly damaged running belt with no lubrications. Or, a motor on the way out. Or, you are exceeding the weight limit of the treadmill.

I have a Proform xp 615 that will work fine for about a minute and belt will stop. As soon as I step off of the belt it will run back up to speed, but will not have any power/ torque.

Hi There, This could be caused by a few things....
First, is the belt/deck lubricated and slide easily with the foot when the treadmill is off? Next, , have you noticed any odd smell like burning "something", if so, this would lead to a motor issue, which can be checked with the tread UNPLUGGED from the wall, look inside the motor brush covers, one on each side, to check the copper colored commutator for dark burned area's, and lastly, motor control boards die over time due to the work on the capacitors when the treads are in use. Unfortunately, manufacturer's decide to cut costs on capacity for overall performance which leads to issues, and you can always email gregATbuyfitnessrepairpartsDOTcom for additional help, as nobody likes a dead-tread ;o)

The treadmill runs fine until i step on it then it stalls and stops running

There is a motor which spins the treadmill belt. When you start the treadmill, the motor starts running and belt spins smoothly. But when you step on the treadmill, the motor cannot take the load and it stops working. In your case, the motor and motor control board is got weak and this is causing the problem. ---------- Or the other possibility is the treadmill belt, the belt on which you step. That belt should be smooth, there is grease in the inner side of belt to keep it lube and run fluently. If that oily grease gets dried up then belt gets bit stiff or jammed up, when a load is on belt.So get this both possibilities checked.First try lubing the belt internally and then try check the motor and motor control board. To locate motor control board its simple. On the side of motor you will see a electric plug in connector, the other end of that connector gets connected to motor control board.Remove that connector , clean it and reconnect after 5 minutes, then check. In some cases this resets the internal control system and everything, works normally. But its not always possible then removing and reconnecting connector helps. In other cases the motor or control board needs to be replaced. If the motor gets weak, then internal coils in motor gets burned up.----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a proform xp 550e trademill and i changed the motor control board because the motor start running and inmediadlly stops. after i installed the board the motor start running and stop some time after...

To calibrate the speed follow these steps.
Press stop and speed up and place the safety key in its spot.
release the stop and speed up.
Press stop again. The windows on the console (speed & time) will be all zeros.
Press speed up, the time window will increase. The belt should start to move. Increase this number to 85. This is maximum speed. Adjust the potentiometer to the correct maximum speed. The console will beep until the correct speed is adjusted (+ or - .2mph).
If the machine suddenly goes dead when in use, you may have a static electricity problem.
Check that the ground pin is present on the plug and check your outlet for a proper ground connection.

My Proform 695 LT runs fine when Iam not on it but when I get on the machine it starts pausing in between running or even a slow walk

Unplug unit remove motor shroud then plug unit back in , press start and begin walking on the belt normally and try to stall the belt to make it slip ( planting foot to stop the belt).
Be careful during this test. If the problem is in the drive belt, either the drive belt will stop when stalled or the front roller will stop when stalled. Here is the procedure for adjusting the drive belt.
Find the motor mounts. Many motors in Icon treadmills have a main pivot joint in which a bolt runs the full length of the motor mount. This bolt will require loosening to provide maximum adjustability. Some models have a single jack bolt and others have an auto tensioner. Single jack bolts are the easiest to adjust.
Find the set bolt(s) on the motor. This is typically run through only one side of the motor mount or may be on both sides but it does not run the full length of the mounting. Loosen this bolt(s) but do not remove. Jack bolt models will have flat mounts and may contain up to four bolts.
Look for a bolt that will tension the motor. If it has this bolt, it typically runs in the same direction parallel with the drive and walking belts. If your treadmill is not equipped with this bolt, skip to Step 4. If your treadmill is equipped with this bolt (very few are) the repair will only require one person. Using 2 7/16" wrenches, make a few turns to this bolt, tighten the bolts and test your treadmill for slipping. If belt continues to slip, and if their is too much tension ( you should be able comfortably twist the drive belt 90 degrees ) then replace drive belt. If the motor, drive belt, and front roller continue to turn when the walking belt is stalled, the problem is with the walking belt slipping on the front roller, here the procedure adjusting the walking belt.
If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the allen wrench, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 3 to 4 inches off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened
If the drive belt continues to turn but the front roller stalls, you may have a broken front roller pulley. If this is the problem, you will notice it because the plastic will usually make a loud squealing sound on the metal front roller. The front roller assembly will need to be replaced and the drive belt must be replaced also. We suggest replacing the drive belt as well because it is a low cost item and will most likely, have suffered unusual wear from the problem. Another possibility is that the drive belt has worn down. In some cases, belt dressing may help correct the problem. If not, the drive belt must be replaced.

Look for a bolt that will tension the motor. If it has this bolt, it typically runs in the same direction parallel with the drive and walking belts. If your treadmill is not equipped with a bolt as described above, the drive belt must be tensioned by hand. While one person applied increased tension to the drive belt, the other person should tighten the motor set bolt(s) that are described in Step If your treadmill is equipped with this bolt (very few are) the repair will only require one person.
If the motor, drive belt, and front roller continue to turn when the walking belt is stalled, the problem is with the walking belt slipping on the front roller.
