SOURCE: Grinding/Rubbing noise?

the unit has a "food chopper" inside the pump sump. it is to chop up "food" items and not bones, seeds or other items. you can keep running the unit and see if after 2 or 3 loads the noise goes away. ie: the item get chopped up small enough to go out the drain.
if it doesnt go away, then you will need to get into the wash pump and see what is stuck in the sump.
its not hard to take apart and you will find whatever shouldnt be in there.

Brother MFC 9440CN - I am getting "Document Jam"

Take the cover off of the ADF, rub clean the rollers with a damp cloth. Make sure there is no paper stuck in the area Also, check that the sensor flags are activating. just move them back and they should bounce back to normal position. Cleaning should do the trick.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks, Joe

Rotation noise from rear end while riding

If the rubbing sound you have does not have a metalic sound to it then try rubbing a bar of soap on the inner side of the drive belt. Sometimes we keep our rides too clean and remove the natural lube in this area causing a sound as you describe

My HP J6480 ADF is making a grinding noise when I try and fax or copy documents fed thru the ADF. I have tried cleaning the rollers but that hasn't worked. Any other suggestions?

You need to locate, from where sound is coming from.
Then use wd40 or silicone grease oil, and lubricate.
its probably dirt on axis bushings.

Canon PC 1060 will not SCAN

Cleaning the rubber rollers on the ADF may help it to pull the paper through; I did it on my 1060 and I think it helped. (This was suggested in another post some time ago.)

Press Additional Functions. Use arrow keys to find ADJUST/CLEAN; press SET. Use arrow keys to find CLEAN ADF ROLLER. Open the ADF. Press SET. Each time you press SET, the rollers will rotate a partial turn. With the corner of a soft cloth slightly moistened with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, wipe the black rubber rollers both on the bottom and top of the ADF. Push SET again and rub again, several times. (DO NOT use alcohol on the long white roller! Use a dry cloth only, if you want to clean it.) Push STOP/RESET when you're done.

Touch the rollers only after they stop--not while they are rotating!

No guarantees, but it may be worth a try.

ADF not working.

if the black line shows only when you use the ADF, lift the whole document feeder, and look on the very left of the glass (the area onto which the paper is travels from the ADF). Check that the glass is clean in that area.

On the ADF:
Open the small ADF cover on the top right. There you will see rollers and a paper sensor. First make sure the isn't any paper stuck in the rollers. Clean the rollers with a damp cotton pad or cloth a small amount of dish washing detergent. Make sure it is damp. Then check to make sure that the paper sensor lever is working by toggling it. The paper sensor is spring loaded, check that the spring is in place.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
