SOURCE: Whirlpool Double oven - control panel stopped working

Atlanta...sounds like you may have a power supply problem or the panel is bad. Cut the power, open the unit up and see if there is a fuse in there or a reset. No good? Then replace the circuit board. They just, well, die sometime. Happened to my microwave. Some units may be available remanufactured. Look around on the web.

SOURCE: Dead Whirlpool Double Oven

This happened to us the first time we used the self-cleaning feature. The repairman said we had to replace the whole electronic panel -- but when he put in the new panel it didn't work either. It turned out he just needed to replace the oven shutdown thermal fuse I believe. We finally got up enough courage to try the self-cleaning again and the exact thing happened. The door is locked and the electronic panel is dead again. So when we get it fixed we will never use the self-clean again.

SOURCE: how to remove the control panel on Whirlpool double oven Model RBD305PDS14

Emge & Associates is investigating gas and electric ovens manufactured by Whirlpool, including such popular brands as Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid and Maytag.
The firm is investigating reports that the electronic control panel on certain models is subject to failure after a limited number of uses of the appliance’s “self-cleaning” setting. While most foods are cooked at temperatures reaching 375 degrees, the “self-cleaning” setting raises the interior oven temperature to 1,400 degrees. Due to defects in the design and or manufacturing, the electronics contained on many ranges are damaged by extremely high heat. Repairs to damaged control panels typically cost in excess of $300 per replacement.
If you have experienced failure of the control panel in your range after using the “self-cleaning” setting, you can join this investigation by contacting Emge & Associates at (800) 629-3409 or (619) 618-2974.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Double oven control panel

A lot of people seem to have ran into this problem. I had no luck finding a solution to this problem anywhere on the internet. I finally fixed this problem by replacing the control board. Wanted to put this info out here for others. The part swaps out fairly easy for all of you considering the fix yourself. Sears direct had the cheapest price.

How do i remove the front panel from the whirlpool accubake double oven

1. You need to pull the oven out a few inches to be able to access two screws on each side of the control panel. On my oven, I needed to open the lower oven and remove a screw from each side to allow a vertical cover piece to be removed. With those pieces removed, there were two screws on each side that went into the wood frame around the oven. I also had a screw on the bottom of the oven, but it didn't not look standard. With those screws removed, the oven pulled out fairly easy. Just need to pull out far enough so that the two screws on the control panel assembly are accessible.
2. Remove those two screws and the panel can slide out once a number of cables have been removed. I took a picture of the connections before removing so I was sure I would put them back correctly (see below). The ribbon cable comes off by raising the plastic piece on top of the connector.

I replaced my panel with a Sears part that had been rebuilt. I couldn't find any new parts anywhere. It's been three weeks and, so far, my oven is working fine.

How to remove the control panel on Whirlpool double oven Model RBD305PDS14

Remove the doors by turning toward you a little toggle apparatus located on each hinge. Locate a small screw on the lower inside edge of the left and right hand trim and then slide off the trim. Remove the lower trim then raise the upper trip and put the left end of the panel inside the top opening. This allows you access to the control panel. Test both the keypad part #8300440 and the control panel part #830219 to see which one needs to be replaced. Order the replacement part, plug it in, reverse the precess above and it should work like new..

Upper oven locked and control panel is not working

First off this oven sucks. Now to fix the problem replace the Fuse assembly with #4451042 an $11.00 part. SHUT OFF THE POWER AT THE BRAKER PANEL FIRST. Then open the lower oven door and remove the two small screws that hold the side trim pieces, slide them up a bit to remove. At the top of the track remove two more small screws that hold the display panel in-place and lift the cover up and away from the oven. The fuse is inside of a clear plastic tube with a female spade connector at each end of it. replace the failed part and put things back the way that they came off. Next time don't by a Whirlpool.
