Whirlpool dryer LER8648PWO wont start.

Checked thermal fuse, door switch and start switch all good. Timer runs but no other noise.

Not the door switch. Took it to our appliance guy and found out it was the timer. Even though the timer was running down it was not making the contact to switch the dryer on.

Make sure door is closed and then if that doesnt do it, open door and look for where the door contacts at closing you will see a little metal table that is like a ground sometimes when a dryer door is closed or slammed the tab might get pulled backwards with the opening of the door again adjust the tab again so contact with door when shut makes contact if that doesnt do it, check your breaker and see if the breaker was tripped too

SOURCE: DRYER

The thermal cut-out is located on the side of the heater housing assm. To gain access you need to use a putty knife to depress the two spring clips between the top and the front panel and raise the top. The heater is on the back wall. The part number for the t-stat and thermal cut-out kit is LA-1053 and is about $20.00. Don't forget to clean your vent, and check your blower assm. Either one could have caused the problem.

SOURCE: Whirlpool LER5644A No heat and motor wont Turn

Replace the dryer wires.
Put your meter leads into the 4&5 slots.
Make sure the door switch is closed or jumpered.
Push the start button.
If you read no voltage the issue is with the wiring, the timer, or a relay.

SOURCE: Dryer won't start, checked thermal fuses and start switch.

It sounds like you have been through most of the areas too look.

One thing to make sure of is that you have a full 240 volts. An electric dryer can measure 120 volts. from L1 to common and 120 volts from L2 to common but you also need to make sure you have 240 volts from L1 to L2 on the meter, one leg of the breaker or one of the two fuses could be blown.

If this is alright you only have a couple components left. The timer contacts and the drive motor. Either of these could be causing the issue.

To check the motor with the power disconnected check for continuity between switch terminal 5 and the Green(black) wire on the motor. If you have no continuity the motor is bad. Check for continuity between the terminal 6 and the yellow wire on the motor, if you have no continuity there the motor is bad. Check for continuity between terminal 1 and 2 on the motor if you you do not have continuity the motor is bad.

The timer should have continuity between the Yellow and Grey wire terminals for the motor to start.

I hope this helps

Get dryer to work, no instruction manual for Indesit Washer WDG 1195 W

What to check when your dryer won't start-

The wall outlet 240 volts:
The first thing to check when your Whirlpool dryer is not starting is the wall outlet to make sure that the dryer is getting the proper voltages. On an electric dryer there should be 240 and 120 volts present at the terminal block.

A blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker are one of the major causes why the dryer won't start. To check the voltage on an electric dryer you will need to use a multimeter.

The wall outlet 120 volts:
A gas dryer connects to a 120 volts wall outlet, and it is very easy to check the outlet. Disconnect the dryer and connect a hair blower or any other small appliance on the outlet.

If they work, then the problem must be on the dryer. If the don't work, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. If the problem is bigger than that, have a license electrician check the house wiring. A bad wall outlet could be the reason why your Whirlpool dryer is not starting.

The thermal fuse:
The thermal fuse is use on an electric dryer as a safety devise to open the motor circuit if the operating thermostat fails to open at the preset temperature or if the motor draws too much amperage.

A blown thermal fuse could be the reason why your Whirlpool dryer is not starting. It is located behind the back panel on the dryer.

The door switch:
The door switch is another safety device use on the dryer. It is connected on the neutral line of the motor circuit. A door that is not closing properly or a bad door switch could be the reason why your Whirlpool dryer is not starting.

The push to start switch:
The push to start switch is use to start the motor. There are two types of switches. The older type switch is a solenoid operated door switch and the other one is a simple push to start switch.

A bad solenoid operated or regular push to start switch could be the cause why your Whirlpool dryer is not starting.

The timer:
The timer is the distribution center or the brain of the dryer. Inside of the timer is that the electricity gets routed to the different electrical parts in the dryer.

The timer has contact points, and the contact points wear or burn out depending on the amount of use. Contacts burnt inside of the timer, could prevent the dryer motor from starting..

The motor:
Also, the motor could be burnt bad. A motor that smells like rubber burning, makes growling noises, runs for a wile, the won't start until is cool down or a motor that runs fine, but the centrifugal switch is not making the right connections is a bad motor and must be replace.

So...as you could see, there are many parts that could be the reason why your Whirlpool dryer is not starting.

Dryer won't come on

If the timer is still making noise like it wants to run then you may have a blown thermal fuse on the blower housing, can be tested for continuity, if the timer is not making any noise then check your door switch, if the door switch is broken dryer thinks door is open and won;t run,

Whirlpool cabrio shut off and wont come back on

Does the timer still sound like it is wanting to run? If so it is possible you have a blown thermal fuse on the blower housing. If the timer doesn't make any noise check your door switch, if it is broken the dryer thinks the door is open and won't start.

My Whirlpool dryer(supreme) does not start. The timer switch, door switch, start switch can all be heard to electronically switch on and off when I turn the timer around and open and close the door....

the thermal fuse may be faulty. Remove the outer back of the dryer. the thermal fuse is located on the blower assy with 2 wires connected to it. It is white plastic. connect the wires together, then try to start the unit again. If the unit starts, clean the exhaust duct after replacing the thermal fuse.

If the thermal fuse is ok then the door switch or door switch actuator maybe.

Dryer wont work!

A couple suggestions: (1) The switch in the front may be bad. It's the switch that turns the dryer off when you open the door. (2) Make sure the door latch keeps the door shut. If it is worn and the door isn't shut tight, the switch will not let it start. Hope this helps.
