I would suggest you go online and order the instruction manual. I hacve done this several times with yard sale electronics. Go to the website for the manufacturer and you can usually get the manuel for less than $10.

You may want to call Coby's cust svc, since the documentation on the website is a little spotty - Customer Care: 1.800.727.3592
If you have the user manual, check and see if there is a "reset" method - this will turn your player off when it freezes.
Then, hold in the volume + button while the player is off, and connect it to your computer - after continuing to hold the volume + button for several seconds, a Windows XP enabled computer will load the missing drivers. It should pop up a window that says "Found New Hardware wizard: Recovery Mode"
Finally, you can try reformatting the player in windows Media Player. connect the device to the computer, and bring up the drop-down menu underneath the Sync tab - select your player, and select "Format player"
You will most likely need to get a firmware upgrade from Coby's website www.cobyusa.com, although I had a difficult time finding your exact model number - their cust svc may be able to direct you to the right place.

I have the same problem. If you turn the unit over, you can see a small hole on th bottom right hang side - (next to USB symbol) - The RESET button is located inside. If you insert a small paper clip and press the button for approx 20 seconds it should function again.
