In my shop we always used a good automotive spray paint it was always easy to find an import color that matched closely. Every one says you need the special appliance paint. I found if you sand down the rust and de-grease the cavity, this paint works quite well. I ran my business for 40 years and painted a lot of cavities over that time. I lost my business due to health issues, not related to microwave ovens. Make sure you let it cure till very dry and hardened before you put the roller ring back and use it. If you even have a roller ring under the glass tray at the bottom.
Hello -
Yes the rusted areas inside a microwave oven can be repainted.
First, you will need appliance paint which is designated for microwave interior use. Check with your local hardware store or local home improvements store to find out what paints they sell which fit the criteria for "microwave cavity paint."
You can read directions for how to go about the project:
https://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-repaint-the-inside-of-a-microwave
Read the instructions through, completely, before starting on your project so you know what supplies you need to have available and what steps need to be followed before starting.
Best wishes.
SOURCE: paint inside microwave oven, Can it be repainted ?
Yes. You need to clean it, sand it shiny, then clean it squeky again.
Then you can get high temperature appliance paint in spray on brush-on form from local appliance part store or places like Wal-Mart and Lowe's.
I would suggest you let it dry overnight with the door open before using the oven.

SOURCE: Rust inside the microwave.
The areas can be sanded and painted, but first make sure there are no holes rusted through. If it's all surface rust, then sand and clean as best as you can. If you have any areas rusted through - get rid of the microwave.
Use the paint sparingly - don't try to cover in one or two coats. Best results are obtained with very, very light coats drying 10 minutes or so (depending on the humidity) in between. 10- 15 coats usually works well.
It's best to do this outside, as you'll have lots of overspray.
As far as the paint - the best I've used for the last 20 years or so comes from A.M.I. Parts. You can find them @ www.amiparts.com or toll free 1-800-522-1264.
SOURCE: Paint damaged in side microwave oven
1) How is the cavity damaged? Is it just peeling paint, or is it rust? If it's rust then the microwave could be dangerous.
2) The antenna cap usually has a small hole in the centre, but if there are any other holes in it the magnetron itself could be damaged, and holes caused by the magnetrin arcing.
SOURCE: my microwave oven has are rust spots;can I paint over them?
Yes, you can paint over the spots and no, it's not dangerous. I'd let the paint thoroughly dry before using the oven -- it could otherwise cause paint to buckle/ripple/etc.
SOURCE: bottom of door inside badly rusted - oven works fine
Yes you can paint it.. Begin by removing the rust with either a wire brush or a thick paste product called naval jelly. Then prime the area and finally paint it with appliance paint, abailable in a spray can at most hardware stores in the color of your appliance.
