How do I reset the PIN code for parental control use if I have forgotten it? Please follow the steps below:-

• Power the unit on.
• Open the unit's drawer.
• Select the BD drive with the Drive Select button.
• Press and hold the REC and PLAY buttons on the front of the unit together for 5 seconds until the display shows INIT.
• Confirm that the front display shows 'INIT'.
• The parental PIN code has now been reset to the default code of '0000'.

INIT = Initiate, reason why you cannot open it is because it is having an error starting up and it is not completing

GO into menu inital set up/first time instilation press yes as it goes through it should come up with the language menu.

check system output by aux port if output is normal then system amplification work proper

try another cd all cd it reading or init then lense clean with lense cleaner and try

Are you trying to reset the password for Ratings or re-initialize the unit to all factory defaults?

Page 27 shows one instance of INIT.

Re-initialize Setting

This returns all values in the Setup menus to the default settings.

You have forgotten your ratings password. Reset all the settings to Factory Preset.

While stopped and "DVD/CD" is the source, press and hold ['Square Icon' button for STOP] on the main unit and [S10] on the remote control until "Initialized" disappears from the television. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will return to the default values.

Have the same problem. Contacted the authorized repair shop near my place and they said the errors could be one of three things......bad ribbon, bad capacitor, or bad motor. $75 to $125 to fix. Seems like I have seen alot of issues with this model and would highly recommend trying to contact Panasonic. After they give you no help but refer you to a Panasonic Repair Shop I would recommend what I am going to do and place a claim against there faulty device with my state's attorney general's office. Most states have an easy online claim system and Panasonic would have to respond in a timely manner to your claim.

Hopefully enough people see this and will start a class action lawsuit because $450 that I paid for this piece of crud kind of sucks only having it work less than 3 years.

it is the problem of cd changer mechanism and company have 1000 reasons to blame the user.

You might have 2 problem
Power supply regulator, electrolytics capacitors dried out in power supply block or DVD Ram defective or both depend your area or contry some of DVD Ram is NLA at Panasonic like Australia
However you need a qualifier Tech to check the unit if the power supply is worth to repair it if DVD Ram or both is not worth to repair it
